The irrational fear of the Ravens on this board

The last time the Ravens beat the Patriots in a playoff game in Foxboro was 6 years ago. We were winning that game until Talib pulled himself and we had Marquis Cole covering Anquan Boldin.

They had nothing to do with the Ravens being some mentally tough team being led by the Mastermind John Harbaugh. It was two horrific games by our defense, with mediocre at best players being abused; and a Ravens defense that was playing amazing and was able to slow Brady down.

First is the fact that the Patriots are 10-3 lifetime in head to head matchups vs the Ravens.

Second fact is they will NOT be our opponent next week.

Maybe a few of you are misreading my posts
I am not implying that they are tomato cans.
I am however stunned by the embellishments that are posted on this site.
Last year the Ravens did not qualify for the playoffs and yet similar fear laced
messages were posted.

We lived there for one year while my wife did a fellowship at the University of MD Med Center downtown, during the 2007 season. The pure, evil viciousness oozing from those gangsta fanimals during, and long after, the Monday night game there was downright scary.

Interesting insight. After moving to Washington in the mid-70s, I would occasionally go up to Baltimore and catch a Patriots/Colts game at Memorial Stadium. I never noticed any of that attitude on display. I wonder if adoption of the black uniforms/gangsta ethos by the transplanted Browns management encouraged the lower order of Baltimore fandom to come out of the woodwork. I haven't traveled up to Charm City to see the Ravens.

Interesting insight. After moving to Washington in the mid-70s, I would occasionally go up to Baltimore and catch a Patriots/Colts game at Memorial Stadium. I never noticed any of that attitude on display. I wonder if adoption of the black uniforms/gangsta ethos by the transplanted Browns management encouraged the lower order of Baltimore fandom to come out of the woodwork. I haven't ever gone up to Charm City to see the Ravens.

I definitely think that plays a big role in creating and maintaining the culture there; the current ownership also plays a role too, as does of course their HC. And having the stadium closer to downtown than the old Memorial Stadium was might also play a role as well. While the local media didn't give the Murderers much of a chance leading up to the Monday night game, they were definitely front and center in the attacks against the Patriots after the game. Those who called into the local talk shows would've had no problem physically killing Bill, Brady et al. I didn't dare mention to anyone whom I didn't know that I was from MA. And of course the vile, nasty glee they all expressed after the SB was nauseating.

I have often thought that the city itself took on the mindset and image of the football team. The Baltimore Colts were a hard working, blue collar team. The city up to the 80's was that. It all changed when they left and they city wen't downhill after that. It now is very reflective of the Ravens as a team.

Actually, Memorial Stadium was in the midst of minority neighborhoods, the "hood," and there was never any problem. Folks sold driveway parking spaces for a few bucks, and sat on the porches watching the fans arrive at the stadium and depart from the game.

Does this thread violate the terms of service for this message board? (It looks to me as though several people are having fun with it.) Are you telling me what to do? Do I need your permission to post? Your opinion regarding what is "irrelevant" is irrelevant. If you do not like a post or a thread use your scroll bars. Back to the topic at hand: IF the Baltimore Ravens were the unstoppable Juggernaut that a percentage of members viewed them as, then what happened? Please be conversational and add some relevant information.

In other words the goal of the New England Patriots is to win another Super Bowl.
If that is the case, then they need to be able to defeat all other competitors
including the Ravens, the Broncos, the Giants, and all of the Boogeymen that have plagued us in the past.

Can they do it again? That is to be determined. The Chargers are a formidable yet beatable opponent.

They beat the Pats twice in the playoffs and could ( should ) have won two more... Granted Lewis and Reed aren't on the field but I for one am glad they are gone..

Pats have to, at a minimum make it to the Super Bowl to stay ahead of them. Then the Pats will have gone 2-0 and could finish 2-1 at worst if they lose in the Super Bowl and the .667 ( 2-1) keeps them ahead of Baltimore...Winning the Super Bowl extends the difference even more..
