We should be carrying 8 or 9 OL's, 7-8 on game day depending on other one is also our 3rd TE.

WHO IS DEPENDABLE
Last year, we had an awesome OL. This year, I'm just looking for dependable.

We can depend on 3 starters: Wynn, Thuney and Mason.

We can depend on Karras as a weak starter, but quality Game Day backup at OG and C

We have 2-3 question marks signed in the last 10 days.

Dante is one of the 2-3 best OL coaches in the history of the NFL; but it takes time to learn the system.

Q1 Who will work out and how soon?

Q2 Who will BB trade for?

And yes, I know that we have won with RG's and RT's off the street.

I agree that this is an important issue. I am curious as to how they settle this. Seems like they are already on the cusp of moving on from a player they like to fit all the WRs and the salary cap is a consideration as well.

Having said that : I’m very high on the top three players - Wynn, Thuney, Mason. I don’t know if Thuney fits their 2020 plans, but he’s been fantastic since arriving. Luckily Wynn & Mason are around for quite some time still...

Why don't we give Eluemunor and Cunningham a little more time before we worry about who to trade for or sign? Brodine could also come back. I don't think it's as dire you suggest.

Are the Dolphins are trade partner?

ChiefSplanet will need straight jackets if NE and Miami pull off a trade for an OL.

We do have a rookie OL on IR who may be able to help mid-season.

Forholdt is done for the year. He went on IR before final cuts, if I recall.

Cajuste is still on NFI. He may heal up enough to see activation after week 7 (8?).

I would trade AB to Redskins for Trent Williams

Quick question, mg, aside from the slow snaps, what exactly made you think Karras was "weak" as a starter. Now I have to admit I wasn't watching him closely, but I saw the affects of his work. For the most part, Brady had the same ability to step up into the pocket as last season. The only time I saw one of our OLmen pushed back into the pocket it was Mason who gave up the bull rush, NOT Karras

I thought Karras had a VERY strong game as a pass protector, playing against a very well regarded NT all night. Clearly the snaps were an issue, but that is an issue that is fairly easy to fix over time.

On the larger topic of OL depth, there are SEROUS issues that need to be faced. I'm thinking Eluemanor isn't one of them. Based on the clips I saw when we first got him, I think he's has starter quality ability. So I'm comfortable that Dante can get him to the point where he could be an adequate back up at G or RT. As for the rest, (Ferrentz and Cunningham), I'm very nervous. That's why I see Bodine back sooner rather than later.

The OL has been so goddamned healthy the last several years, we have pretty much forgotten what it's like losing players in that area. I doubt we will know the true extent of Cannon's injury for a while. Such is the nature of Bill and injury news.

Wynn's success took one load off our backs. Karras had, imho, a strong game as well. So as Meatloaf has so wisely told us, "2 out of 3 ain't bad'

KARRAS (our #4 OL; presuming that Cannon is not available)
I should have said that Karras is inexperienced, not weak. I have said in the past that I'm fine with Karras at center, although we do need a veteran backup. I hope that the answer is BODINE (#6, first off the bench). If that is the case, I would think that he would be signed today or tomorrow to replace Ferentz.

ELUEMANOR (our 5th starter)
OK, I certainly hope that you are right. If so, he is our RG for now, with Thuney playing RT. Obviously, this could flip if we trust Elue manor to be our RT. Dante needs to work fast.

BACKUPS (#7, #8, and #9)
Presuming the signing of Bodine, we have Cunningham and out. Ferentz is out if Bodine is signed. So, CUNNINGHAM is our Game Day backup OT against Miami (not a good choice).

I think the fact that E-man cane in instead of Ferentz is pretty good proof that Bodine was cut and Ferentz added temporarily.

Agreed.

We're all waiting for confirmation on the transactions wire.

From the thread title, I thought that we were talking about Ben Roethlisberger

Do we have the cap space? We had 6.4M and AB used up $6M. Cutting Obi saved $700K, so we have $1.1M. I think that we were paying him $1.9M. We'd cut Ferentz. In any case, it's close.

I don’t think we have current cap yet. Miguel still has it at $6.3M.

Do the Dolphins have any players left?

OK, but he said the cap hit of AB is $6M, I think.
There's going to need to be some restructuring just to have enough room for inevitable injury replacements. I'd expect that on average 5M of so is needed for that, after the season starts.
