For me maybe 2-late 2.good value at 32?
I don’t want our main receiving acquisition to be a draft pick. I want either a trade or FA and then sure draft one too. But this team cannot rely on a rookie, especially if they fell due to injury concerns.
I predict that the Pats will remain competitive after Brady has gone, and will get another Lombardi or two WITHOUT having to enduring sucking ever. Lessor for sure with some re-tooling, but as long as the rest of AFCE stays middling Pats will always compete for the Division, and will get future Lombardi without having to suck for pick number 1. ever. That's an interesting strategy, not unlike a common one for replacing a highly respected and beloved Founding CEO of a business or nonprofit. The premise is that the next person in the job needs to be a transition leader.
Via Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, Jets G.M. Mike Maccagnan made it clear on Wednesday that he’s willing to give up the pick they earned, if the price is right.
“Right now, we feel good at No. 3, but I’d definitely say if there’s an opportunity to trade down, we would absolutely look at it,” Maccagnan said.
“I think I would be open to any team that would,” Maccagnan said, when asked specifically about a possible flip-flop with the Giants. “As long as the trade made sense to us, there’s nothing that would stop us from doing that.”
“If there are teams out there looking to go chase a quarterback, I think we’re in a pretty good position to be in,” Maccagnan. “I don’t necessarily like how we got the third pick, but it’s a good pick to have.”
Some further thoughts on the comp picks.
New England let LT Nate Solder and CB Malcolmb Butler leave in free agency. In return, they got the 97th and 101st picks in the draft.
The Patriots replaced them by making two trades. New England traded its 2018 3rd rounder (#95) to the 49ers for LT Trent Brown and SF's 2018 5th round pick (#143). So the Patriots traded away the 95th pick in 2018 and in return, got the 97th pick in 2019, the 143rd pick in 2018, and didn't lose anything at LT but saved a bunch of money.
The Patriots replaced Butler by trading the 205th pick in the draft to Cleveland for Jason McCourty and the 219th pick in the draft. McCourty was just as good as Butler, so the Patriots saved money at CB, traded down from 205 to 219, and netted the 101st pick in the 2019 Draft.
Combine those two deals, and New England saved money at LT and CB without a decline in quality, and traded the 95th and 205th picks in 2018 for the 97th pick in 2019, the 101st pick in 2019, the 143rd pick in 2018, and the 219th pick in 2018.
Remarkable.
huh??
they got hurt
Having done a little bit more looking into the speedy midget from UMass, I'm becoming more interested in seeing the Patriots draft him in the appropriate round. I'm not definitely for it yet, but I'm getting more comfortable with the notion.
Isabella went for 219 yards and 2 touchdowns against a very stout UGA secondary. Kid can play.
I want one of the athletic Tight Ends at the end of round 1.
Noah Fant or Irv Smith.
Have them split reps with Gronk to keep him fresh for the playoffs and lower his risk for injury

That Guy IMO is in the very overrated category as Director of Player Personnel. He needs a home run type 2019 Draft to exorcise those demons. I wasn't a huge fan of Pioli but him compared to Caserio is like night and day.
