DRAFT The draft

One of the drawbacks to having the Patriots old coaching staff in Miami is you’re not going to be able to sneak a Berrios or someone like him onto the PS for further development. They’re going to have to be on the 53 or they’re off to South Beach.
If you are sneaking a second year player on to the practice squad it doesn’t really matter if you lose him.

You must really dislike Josh Rosen.

This is a team that gave up 3rd rounders for the likes of Shelton, Rowe, Burgess, and Duane Starks. I would hope that they’d give up as much for the shot of developing a future QB that was a top 10 selection just a year ago. Of course, there’s a very good chance that a third wouldn’t get it done.

I think all of those players are better than Rosen.

Thanks. I was just doing a memory check.
Kamar Aiken went from the Pats practice squad to being a legitimate contributor with the Ravens with almost a 1,000 yard season.

Care to elaborate ?
Things that I've read that made me at the time feel he was probably not going to do well. I don't remember the specifics really except there was a sense that he figure he was in the pro bowl before he'd played a game.

Plus, he took 45 sacks in 14 games!

1 game and 0 yards for the Patriots does not fill the requirements of the question, but thanks for the effort. It was a nice trip down amnesia lane.

Yep, I do. I don’t believe he’s a leader or a winner, and those are the most important traits for any QB.

People with hopes for Berrios and McCarron need to wake up, they didn't cut the roster this year nor got promoted. He went to the SB with 1 WR.

Any chance lovett purnell falls to us at 32?

We actually have news of the NFL doing something other than putting its head up its own ass, and it's on the draft front:

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the league has sent a memo to all 32 teams saying that three players who were previously banned from attending the NFL Scouting Combine to show up after all.

Louisiana Tech defensive end Jaylon Ferguson, Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, and Colorado State wide receiver Preston Williams will be permitted to travel to Indianapolis to undergo their medical evaluations. Apparently they won’t be allowed to participate in any other events beyond the medicals — which is another half-step for the league.

NFL to allow previously banned players to attend Combine

It's still half-assed, and the players should decline because of the part in bold, but it's at least a step in the right direction.

Florio has followed up by noting that they can interview too, and he actually makes a fair point about them now doing pretty much everything but running around in their underwear.

Per a league source, Louisiana Tech defensive end Jaylon Ferguson, Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, and Colorado State wide receiver Preston Williams also will be allowed to engage in interviews with teams. However, they won’t be permitted to take part in the various events of the Underwear Olympiad.

That’s actually a good outcome for the players; they’ll still run and jump and lift and whatever during their Pro Day workouts. Their Combine experience will now be less stressful and hectic than it would have been, since they won’t have all activities crammed into their stay in Indianapolis.

So these guys will do everything but Pro Day stuff at the combine, which gives them more time to prepare and lets them work out in an environment they're more comfortable in.

The NFL still needs to knock it the hell off with the bans, but this is better than originally claimed.

...

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut. Every dog has its day. Even the losers get lucky sometimes. Every blind dog finds a lucky nut looking for a squirrel. Something like that.
even BB’s draft board found a Squirrel in the seventh round? Something like that?

It's so backwards but its the NFL.

Interesting news (at least to me)

Oklahoma WR Marquise Brown, a projected top 15 pick in April’s NFL Draft, underwent surgery for a LisFranc injury last month that will prevent him from participating in the combine and his Pro Day, but he still is expected to be ready for summer training camp, per league sources.

still projected at top 15 after surgery?

I don't know. The potential for a drop is what makes the situation interesting to me.
