Allen Bailey would be a tremendous pickup.
Hogan I guess if he helps the new receivers learn the route tree or if we have a bad run of preseason injuries. Sure hope our receiver core is restocked and Hogan does not make the team. He played like doo last year.
Sure the Patriots will be open to trading for receivers on other teams during/after the draft. We have some cap room and draft picks to offer. Nice having a surplus of picks this year and likely again next year along with 3 injury red shirted players from last year who still hold promise.
On the defensive side of the ball, I see a need for Chung safety/hybrid linebacker replacement. We seem thin at linebacker/tight end coverage, speed rusher after Chung. Add in his age and a 19 game schedule the need is there. Any chance Dawson can get some more sand in his pants and play that role?
Over the years Bill has taken shots in the second round at this type of player with many misfiring so a bit scary to hear the pick and read the familiar bio. Still it is a real need on the team. I think the Patriots draft is stacked in part by resource availability. If they think by the fifth round all the safety options are gone that meet their profile, but plenty of choices among other positions of equal grade remain, they will take the safety in an earlier round banking on some of those other choices remaining. My money is on Bill taking a linebacker/safety hybrid in the first three rounds. And we will gnash our teeth about it.
