The Direct Snap play

How many times have we seen the Patriots run the Direct Snap play that they ran to get the first 2 pt conversion? 20-30 times over the years? Mostly critical, gotta have it situations. Faulk, Vereen, White, whoever else. Weis, McDaniels, O'Brien, McDaniels again. And how many times have we seen it fail? Once?

16 years and they can't figure that one play out. And they think the Pats need to cheat?

We've seen it a lot throughout the years , but I honestly can't remember the last time the Patriots called that play.

Also, it's not just entirely a trick play, either. Even if they don't fall for it, that D still has to stuff the run from the 2 yard-line. And using a small RB like Faulk or White might make the D use a different Defensive goal-line personnel package, too.

Really, just making the defense flinch can give you the advantage.

Huge play. McDaniels came alive in that second half. I was not a fan of the game plan but he deserves a lot of credit for managing that second half, mixing in some runs to give the WRs a breather and getting White involved.

They did this play w/ Kevin Faulk for a 2 point conversion in Superbowl 38

Patriots used same 2-point play last time they were in a Super Bowl in Houston

Watching the game, I was thinking what could have been going thru Jed york's mind.

1st half: Thank God McD declined. We got the better coach.

I don't remember them running it with Vereen.. I hadn't remembered them running it with Woodhead, but the proof is in the video.
