IIRC Kraft married it.

Of course what he got was nothing compared to the inheritance that Clark Hunt, Woody Johnson, the Waltons etc got.

Clearly Bob did have to put in the hours early in his marriage or his little paper goods company wasn't going to be able to provide the cash that allowed him to buy that stadium with its aluminum benches out of bankruptcy court.
Exactly. I’m old enough to remember what Dan Shaughnessy of the Globe called Kraft for a decade or so: Bob (“Thanks Myra”) Kraft.

I get it, but honestly, if they made the rule be that you had to be self-made a large percent of the NFL owners would not be owners.

Didn't that get the Shaughnessy' banned from Gillette?

Dan Shaughnessy? Oh.

Not aplicable to you but, to quote Oscar Wilde, “some cause happiness wherever they go, others when they go.”

I would think if they did a survey of cities in the US people would like to visit I’m sure Boston would score astronomically higher than Kansas City.
It is. Boston is the 10th highest ranked US city in terms of tourists (behind NYC, Miami, LA, Orlando, San Francisco, Vegas, DC, Chicago, and Honolulu in that order). There isn't enough data to accurately rank Wichita which is the highest ranked city in Kansas (it would be somewhere between 60 and 90, probably closer to 90). Kansas City, KS is worse. Outside top 100. Kansas City MO is 22nd.

As someone who had to drive through the entire state of Kansas once, it ****ing sucks. It's just nothing but flat plains and wheatfield and you are basically spending the whole time judging whether you have enough a gas every time you pass a tiny town because there's basically nothing for 2-3 hour periods of driving.

When I was 15 family went to Colorado. On the way there we drove through Kansas. On the way back we came through Nebraska.

Nebraska is worse than Kansas.

I've lived in downtown Worcester for 20 years. Never has my car been touched. Never have I been mugged. Never has my apartment been broken into.

I'm sure those caravans will show up any day now though.

Your post is actually embarrassing, Welcher. But I guess that's why you can't even be trusted to slop the hogs anymore.
You always bring the fail.

Car thefts are up 29% in Worcester.

@Triumph

Such a stupidly misinformed post, but typical for you. Worcester reported 29 TOTAL motor vehicle thefts in the month of November, NOT a 29-percent increase.

Via crime statistics released in August 2025 (covering the first half of the year), the city's motor vehicle thefts were down. There had been 206 reported thefts, a decrease from 228 during the same period in 2024.

Here ya go welcher, and just your size. Just watch out for them thar Kansas cow pies (or maybe use the outhouse instead):

CA and NEB are in the top worst.

As I said, the coast from Boston to DC is really, really special. The other 8 states are in the Northeast corridor from Boston to DC.
I'm not surprised about California. It does feel like a lot of people are leaving. It's just not the same as when I was growing up in the 80's and 90's. If I didn't have family here, I'd be packing my bags as well.

I lived in Worcester my entire life before retiring to the Cape a few years ago. Never thought the crime rate or car theft was ever an issue there. Worcester is a decent city that gets negative publicity from the Boston media, including the weather forecasters. The temperatures are reported from the airport which is at 1000 feet.

It's not an issue, he's just wrong as usual -- victimized by poor reading comprehension, a tendency to make stuff up and bad hygiene.

Car thefts and stabbings are up.

I dont believe anything out of Boston.
