The Case for 5 RBs

My main point -- which got a little bit lost in another poster foolishly calling me a troll, saying I was a casual fan and droning on about straw man arguments -- was and is that bolden is talented enough that the pats should find a way to keep him.

You keep on bringing this up and taking shots at me, as if you are looking for sympathy from others here.. It hasn't happened and probably wont but that wont stop you from dropping it.

You made an incredibly silly claim and I make a comment and apparently it was so insulting that I said that you may have just been a casual fan that you cant stop talking about it. Get the fak over yourself....ok? Nobody cares how long you have been a fan of the team.

And yes, you have tried to engage me in several straw men arguments and apparently did not know what a "straw man" was because you claimed I called YOU a "straw man". I am seriously tired of your whining about this. I havent said Shiiiit to you since our discussion and you keep crying about it.

And, now you want to cut Fells, Ballard, or Blount to keep Brandon friggen Bolden??? Wow. Maybe if you had a clue people wouldn't think you are a casual fan.

Wait. Fells, Ballard and Blount cut to keep Bolden?

I didn't mean all of them. I meant I would consider cutting each of them. There would be no reason to cut them all.....

We're going to need 4 TE's and both Ballard and Fells will be needed to allow versatility in terms of being able to keep the same personnel on the field in the hurry up situation, along with Gronk and Sudfeld obviously.

In a situation where we'll need to keep 3 TEs active a lot, having that 4th will be very important when someone gets injured--or Gronk misses the first handful of games.

If anything, we may not have much of a reason to keep the 5th RB, especially if Belichick intends on keeping Tebow.

Until injuries hit the running back position and the New England Patriots sign Lex Hilliard off the streets like last year.

We're simply talking about the opening 53 man roster.

We all know that there will be tons of roster decisions made between now and the end of the season, based on injuries and other needs.

It's also the reason why they may not need to keep more than 8 OL in the beginning. They aren't making all of the decisions based on the entire season in the initial 53 man roster.

The New England Patriots survived last season without a third quarterback on the 53 man roster.

And???

They've also had times where they've kept as many as 4 QB's on the 53 man roster.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? None of us have any idea as to how many QBs they'll keep on the roster. My comment about not needing to keep 5 RB's if a 3rd QB was kept is certainly a reasonable enough thought.

Belichick doesn't make out the year's roster based on what he did last season.

I know, and I still think it is over-the-top. Either Fells or Ballard is likely to start as a top TE while Gronk heals, and the other is probably going to play more snaps that Bolden even after Rob returns. Blount is clearly over Bolden on the depth chart right now.

I can see an argument that Bolden is more valuable than someone like Cole or Ebner, but not any of the guys you mentioned. Only injury would get Brandon over them.

I remember the Patriots last 4th string quarterback.

Thomas "Tom" Edward Patrick Brady, Jr...

Non sequitur. The New England Patriots do not have 4 quarterbacks currently on the 90 man roster.

Calling Tim Tebow a quarterback at this juncture of his career is a joke. Tim Tebow's performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was an embarrassment to Patriots Nation.
