The 2013 Prospect Thread

Personally I'd rather keep Chandler Jones where he performs best. Draft Ansah to shift inside on passing downs and have Bequette come in at DE.

Yup. Either Ansah or Margus Hunt at LDE could move inside with Bequette outside on passing downs. Works for me.

Ziggy could be a beast like mayock say's, but in today's game vs ND it wasn't Ziggy there got my attention. Once again it was Stephon Tuitt, he's gonna be a beast also.

I need to see this Tuitt. Keep hearing about him.

Did Ansah do anything?

Think he had 4 tackles that's about it. Tuitt is a 6.6 DE/DT on 300/305 who's terrorizeing backfields. But in general, that 3 man front ND got is insane and he's perfect as a 3-4 DE/DT .. Reminds me of a stud Patriots used to have

I'm going to watch it this week. I'll send you my notes after.

I've only seen what is on youtube so this will be my first full game of Ansah. I'm excited.

Exactly. Tuitt is a beast, and perhaps one of the closest things to Richard Seyour since Seymour. Not sure, but he might also be able to be a stud 4-3 LDE in the right scheme. I'm really curious to see the BYU/ND game to see how Ansah looks in comparison to Tuitt. Different players, but both tremendous physical specimens.

Dear Lord

When the unthinkable happens and Terrific Tom hangs up his boots, please can you have ensured that we have AJ McCarron ready to take his place.

Thanks Awfully

Save your time - BYU defense had bye week or something like it, plus Tuitt do have a STUD NT and a good fellow DE as partners in crime .... Blinky X 3

Was looking at Jake Bequette also, found some old films and read up on him.
He's better inside then outside, he's strength is in the run game. The high motor combinded with he's frame, i think BB saw him as a Justin Smith ( 49ers ) thing... Right DE in a 3-4 front.

Wouldn't mind your openion about that when there's time left Mayo

Yeah, but he'd have to declare this year.

Happy to wait until next year.

Sorry, I meant he will have to declare this year for the Pats to have a shot at drafting him. He's either the first or second QB off the board next year. If he comes out this year there are QBs to push him out of the first round.

Not convinced of that. McCarron isn't flashy enough to go high first round, will be perceived as lacking that NFL arm. I'm already seeing talk about Barkley not being a first rounder because of his arm. And depending on what BB thinks of Mallet, we could be in a position to take a QB in the first next year.

McCarron is a system QB who just happens to fit our system perfectly.

Look at his competition. Logan Thomas if doesn't declare and he bounces back will go ahead of him but I'm not sure anyone else does. Bray probably declares but if he doesn't he might go in front of McCarron. It would have to be a stupid team though. Murray maybe, but probably not. He'll get criticized for his height. Mettenberger sucks. Bridgewater? Driskel? Pass and pass.

Bridgewater will almost certainly go ahead of him. Bray and Thomas certainly could because of upside, Sean Mannion highly regarded, as is the QB at Montana (I believe whose name escapes me). The only QB drafted in the first in the last two years who really compares to the game manager type that McCarron is was Ponder but he was a lot more mobile than McCarron.

We shall see but I reckon he's a late first at best, more likely a 2-3 rd rounder. Would still take him though.

Amen.

McCarron's been my QB binky for the Pats for some time. Perfect fit as a Brady understudy.

Bridgewater could but he's a product of system and competition. Teddy Checkdown.

I'd argue McCarron has a way higher upside than Bray or Thomas. Bray is just an idiot with a big arm and a long release. You can pick those guys up anywhere. Thomas is a product of a decent junior year and awful comparisons to Cam Newton. McCarron is a smart, accurate winner that kills SEC defenses.

If you could fix Collin Klein's mechanics...
