The 2012 season: the Jets [Mod Edit: STILL] suck

18-1 is an epithet?

First, that was five years ago. Get over it. Second, part of that 18-1 was the Jets' stellar 0-2 performance with a combined score of Patriots 58 - Jets 24.

I hope that cretin brings a big "18-1" sign to the Pats - Jets game just to rub it in.

Honestly, the only ones with a right to use 18-1 in a derogatory fashion are Giants fans. Jets fans just use it because in the last 12 years, they've only had one major victory against the Pats.

An interesting constant I've noticed in Wrecks' tenure is the emphasis by both coaches and players on "having fun." One of the first things Li'l Marky mentioned during an interview yesterday on NFLN is "We're having fun out there." Contrast that with the Pats/BB/Brady, whose mantra is "We've got a lot of work to do. A long way to go." A subtle but not insignificant distinction between the approaches of these two franchises.

Good point, and it isn't subtle at all. It's not only a reflection of their leadership style, it's also part of the branding of the two franchises. The Jets are trying to use this to help sell tickets.

Which really makes me laugh.

so...I'm doing the nightly Rage Rage 19 sweep of J.I. and I come across THIS little gem from what I can only describe as a totally delusional green bean banger...check out his "works every time!!!" insult....really,LSD speedballs washed down with rubbing alcohol couldn't get you THIS stupid...

When I was in Boston me and my bros watched with a group of fans at various locations that would oblige us. Pats fans are a bunch of tools so they try to talk sh!t all day. In order to diffuse this talk all one must say is:

18-1.

Although now you can say, "***** you, p*ssy!" or "Nut up or move on!" since their owner went and made a total fool of himself. They probably won't get it though because they have a very limited knowledge of football and even of their own team. It's sad.

"Your owner...HAH! Got you!!! and you don't even know it cause your stupit!"....odds that this kid hasn't been out of his backyard yet???

I'm sure BB spends his entire offseason scouring TMZ to make sure he stays on top of each owner's goings ons. He probably has an entire video library dedicated to Jerry Jones' glory hole.

Only a Jets fan would point with pride to their team losing in the AFCCG and then mock another team for losing the Super Bowl.

That seems right. Right now, Branch or Stallworth would likely be the second best WR on the Jets right now. They are fighting for the fourth spot here.

I was never a fan of Hill, but he is going to take a while before he turns into a productive WR (if he ever does). Scheillen is a jag. Kerley is in the dog house. I might actually rank Cromartie higher than those guys.

Apparently, Over-hype-his-playeritis is not only a disease that Rex Ryan suffers from. It looks like he gave it to his staff:

The Jets have made it clear what they expect from Shonn Greene this season. The fourth-year running back will be the engine for an offense that hopes to revive its ground-and-pound attack.

“I’m asking for a monster season,” running backs coach Anthony Lynn told me. “I think he’s one of the best power backs in the game. Why wouldn’t you?”

Jets expect a 'monster season' from Shonn Greene in 2012 | New York Daily News

Seriously?!? One of the best power backs in the game? Why wouldn't I? Other than he is wildly inconsistent, usually goes down on the first hit (I think I read somewhere he was 30th in yards after first contact although shedding tackles is not important characteristic for a power back ), and has problems making plays on his own?

His best year was last year and it was no better than BJGE's year in 2010. No one was calling BJGE one of the best power backs in the game after that season.

LOL! Why is the general consensus around the league that the Jets are an 8-8 or 9-7 team and might even finish in third place in the AFC East.

I don't get how they think their defense is stacked too. Yes, statistically they were a top 5 defense, but in reality that defense had no pass rush and broke down in crucial points last season. Adding Coples, Landry, Bell, and Sapp is really going to make their team that much better?

They already have Maybin as a contender for most sacks in the season when most of his sacks last year were coverage sacks where he was initially taken out of the play and he recovered because Revis shut down the opposing team's #1 receiver making the QB hold onto the ball. Heck, the "fleet footed" Brady made Maybin look like an idiot because Brady out juked him.

They have a lot of players who could be really good, but also could be not so much. Maybin was overrated last year and is probably even more overrated now. Wilkerson was a good player last year, but just because Rex says he is going to be a stud this year doesn't make it so. Coples is all unknown and I have heard mixed things about his camp from what I can see thus far. Ricky Sapp is a JAG. Bell is old and showed it last year. Landry is a big question mark as far as health.
