This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

Interesting, although the Chaagiz can't be faulted for the fact that the schedule maker only featured one quality opponent in 5 games. Rivers handles blitzing well and the Chaagiz have enough targets that one Revis, even with jersey grabbing, can't hold all of them simultaneously. The Jets main threat to SD will be their excellent Special Teams who I predict will put up at least 7 points.

They can't control the schedule but to the Jets credit they handled the two really bad teams on their schedule and took advantage of Dallas mistakes to win the other. SD could have easily have lost to Minn, KC and Denver. They both handled Miami as a common opponent and both lost to the Pats in tough games. SD starts the season slow so they might just be coming up to speed but I think this one matches up closer than people might think. With the east coast trip factored in I'm hoping the bye coupled with the short week is enough to put the Chargers over the top and bury the Jets so the internal strife takes care of the rest.

Rex says if Chargers had hired him in 2007, he’d have a couple rings | ProFootballTalk

When asked about getting interviewed by the Chargers back in 2007.....

“Well, I think I would have had a couple rings,” Ryan told San Diego reporters, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “I’m telling you, those teams were loaded.”

Gee the guy they actually hired, Norv, is still there! I can only imagine how this is playing in the Chargers locker room. I'm sure that they all still hate the clasy one and want to crush him, but Rex is really stepping in it here.

I am one that doesn't believe bulletin board material makes that much of a difference, but in this case I believe it will.

You can expect to diss your opponent's coach and expect the team to not play their "A" game.

The idiotic thing about his statement is not only did he dis Norv, but he dissed his own team. He bascially is saying my team wasn't as good as the Chargers, but because I am coaching we are better.

Wow! I will be surprised If the Chargers don't at least play a great game. If they don't they don't have the heart to go far IMO.

Are the Jets as good, talent wise, as those Charger teams were?

So Rex is saying that the Jets are inferior in talent because unlike the 2007 Chargers (I wonder what team did well that year?) where he'd have won a couple rings, his years with the Jets have resulted in ZERO rings and ZERO SB appearances.

Time and again, Rex talks before thinking.
I know because I'm an expert at this.

No, but don't you think by saying "that team was loaded" and that you would have a couple of rings sends a message that his team was not good enough.

Perhaps I am reading to much into it, but I can't see it helping.

Rex, the player's coach, always standing behind his team. That's why they love him!

There is an unwritten rule among coaches that you never diss another coach from another team especially for no reason. Rex definitely blew this one. He isn't going to make a lot of friends in the coaching ranks doing that.

I was never a fan of Ryan's act, but it is getting really annoying especially considering the Jets are average at best and he is still talking.

Your right, you know for all the critism leveed at BB, I can't think of anyone, player, coach, anyone (aside from Charlie Casserley, and who deosn't hate him) that he has ever said anything non-flattering about. Granted it us usually the same exact quote for everyone, "excellent player, good speed, smart, atheletic.." but he never comes out and says anything stupid.

Case in point three weeks ago, BB was asked the very same question prior to the Raider game (about him interviewing with the Raiders) and all BB did was complement Al Davis on his football knowledge (and yes, Rex, he didn't mention that his first ring came via the Raiders), that LT, is class!

Here's how I see it: Wrecks' "act" is just that. When Woody Johnson hired him he gave Wrecks marching orders to be brash, loud, and provocative and knew he was the perfect man for the role of carnival barker. The point of all this noise is to make the Green Beans "relevant" to a fan base subdued by decades of futilty and SELL PSLs.

The "act" continues because thousands of PSLs remain unsold. That's also why they did "Hard Knocks" and have thrown money at questionable characters like Cromartie, Burress, etc., hoping that "name" free agents would help get them over the top. It almost worked but was torpedoed by Wrecks' lack of sophistication offensively, led by the failings of Li'l Marky and Schottenheimer.

Now, the window of opportunity is fast closing, PSL sales languish and the team looks as desperate as can be while the fat man sings.

Question.
I have no clue what a PSL is. I think it has to do w. being a ticket holder.

Do the Pats have PSL? If not, why does the Jets have PSL? Also, do the Giants have PSL?

And it is not yet even thanksgiving and he keeps giving...
How stupid can you be?

It's a Personal Seat License, a lump-sum fee allowing you the right to buy season tickets. It's usually several thousand dollars and often is a funding source purportedly used to help pay off stadium construction loans. Some teams have them, some don't. The Pats don't.

It doesn't appear as though Rex thought this one thru. His transparent attempt to take the focus off his team, which is playing like crap, and put the spotlight on himself in a lame attempt to build team unity might work in a vacuum like chamber that houses his massive ego.

But the 50/50 odds that San Diego would show up and sleepwalk through the game are now gone.

Norv's comeback is priceless
"I hadn't seen his quote and I was a little bit surprised by the call," he said. "And then after I saw the quote, I didn't have a chance to ask him this, but I was wondering if he had those rings with the ones he's guaranteed the last couple of years."

Zing! Go, Norv! Just when you thought he had absolutely no backbone...

Rex Ryan is a moron. He just basically told his own team the reason they haven't won any rings us because they aren't talented enough. None of the blame lies with Rex, no way! Way to diss your team, Pillsbury.

This part from the article made me laugh "going to town of a speed bag with a yellowed photo of Ryan taped to a nearby mirror."

that has got to be one huge speed bag.....:singing::singing:

Apparently, though, Rex isn't completely stupid. I see he was worried enough about the comments that he actually called Norv to clarify. It's funny that Norv didn't even know about the comment until Rex trotted it out front and center. Smooth.

Ha Ha, A great quote from GangGreene on this topic.

One thing is for certain. Norv isn't coming here to kiss Rex's imaginary rings!

It sounds like Rex has moved into the next phase of putting on an act: when you hear yourself say it enough that part of you starts to actually believe it. A few years ago, he wouldn't have been arrogant enough to think that with the SD roster he would have won rings. Now, he actually may believe it. That's another step into the danger zone, as it represent a deeper delusional state. Stay tuned, it will only get better from here.

How many years of mediocrity will the Jets put up with before he is fired?

How many years of mediocrity will the Jets put up with before he is fired?

They don't care about that, mediocrity is all they know. All they (Woody Johnson) truly care about is selling PSLs. Wrecks will last until he has back-to-back losing seasons, then they'll hire an offensive-minded head coach. As long as the franchise can convincingly tease fans into considering it relevant, it'll never get serious about winning a title. The way the current roster was built is all the proof you need.
