Texans Trade Osweiler To Browns

The Browns could still trade for JG (they have an additional pick next year now) and just keep Osweiler as a backup.

Somehow multiple QB desperate NFL GMs not valuing JAG's 6 quarters of play before injury as much as Patsfan fanbois anticipating a blockbuster 1st rounder, plus trade. Who knew?

Or maybe Lombardi and Schefter are right, and Garoppolo really isn't for sale.

Cleveland needs to spend money. Looks like they were trading for the cap spending and not Osweiller.

I actually don't mind this deal for the Browns. They had to spend money somewhere, they get a 2nd round pick back, and they can cut him with no dead money after this year. Frankly this deal doesn't even necessarily take them out of the running for Garoppolo.

Cleveland got a 2018 2nd and a 2017 6th, and the Texans got a 2017 4th.

Cleveland loading up picks to trade for jimmy? That franchise's dumb as rocks.

It is only dumb if he isn't good. If he is good it is a genius move to get an asset you needed to make the trade.

#12 and 2nd next year for Jimmy (if it ends up being that) isn't a ton to give up. You still have #33 #52 in round 2.

My hope is JAG to Tx.

Otherwise hoping for a 3rd round comp pick in 2019 unless of course the NYFL changes the comp pick rules that year.

I mostly agree, the thing that kinda confuses me in all of this is that a team like Chicago is willing to give Mike Glennon $15M per year right now, but somehow trading a first for Garoppolo is too risky? At least with Garoppolo you can have him fora year before yo ucommit big money. No matter how valuable a first round pick is, if the QB works out it was worth it, and if not it's not more valuable than $15M per year in cap space.

BTW somebody asked Miguel seemingly crazy Q: can you trade a cap space.

Well, here's the answer..

As a draftnik, so jealous. As a fan, less so :)

Cleveland has to trade a lot of those picks either up for higher draft picks or for players. There is no way they can draft all those players. That is 22 draft picks in two years (and that doesn't include any comp picks they might get next year). That is too many rookies in two years even for a bad team. They could get good for two years and then have to break up the team when all these players become free agents.

JG to Browns for their #12 this year, first rounder next year....and Osweiler.
