Tight end - there has been speculation that gronkowski played with an injury this year. Some said it was a high ankle sprain, some said hip injury and some said a disk problem in his back.

Fact remains he could not run by season end, but contributed as a blocker.

Allen is a really good blocker, but did not contribute much as a receiver.

In feee agency, Maxx Williams is a former high draft pick that under performed. Can he stay healthy? Could bb take flier on him?

If Gronk decides to play this season - and I hope he does - the need to draft a TE early does not change. Allen's contract is too rich for what he brings, and Jake the Fake just plain Sucks. I am more intrigued by seeing what Mister Anderson can do with a full off-season here, but he's still just a #3 at best.

I'd put tight end right there with D-line as far as needs go. We have to look at that position early in my opinion. I'm no draft guru, but I saw the kid from Alabama and he looked really impressive to me.

The team itself isn't in bad shape, a few more pieces, and we could be looking at another superbowl run. We need to get some more options for TB12 to throw too. Get another D-Line/Edge guys if we lose Trey, hopefully he will stay.

Hockenson, Irv Smith, Noah Fant - Hopefully we will double dip on TE this year, even if Gronk Retires. Any one of those three i'd take.

WR - Anyone who can beat man coverage, as it's painful to watch our guys at times against man unless your name is Gronk or JE11.

Dline - Christian Wilkins, Dre'mont Jones, Dexter Lawerence, Charles Omenihu - Those guys suit us the most at the moment.

Coverage LB is always a need.

DB's - Possible Safetys to understudy chung and D-Mac and maybe a Corner to pair with Gilmore&Jackson

With the not-unexpected loss of Trent Brown, it seems likely NE would go for a day 2 (at minimum) OT , given Cannon's injury history and Wynn's Achilles recovery.

    Who might be worthy?

Not sure who the FAs are but a decent swing T that Wynn can beat out makes sense

I could see them going for an interior OL as potential cover should Thuney leave next off-season.

Roster Wrap up after day one of FA:

QB: 42-year old goat, Hoyer, Etling
    RB: Sony, White, Burkhead
WR: Edelman (33), Pot Head, Slater, Berrios
TE: Stephen Anderson, a guy who doesn't know if he wants to play, Hollister, Izzo
OL: Wynn, Thuney, Andrews, Mason, Cannon, Karras, Ferentz, Schwenke, Ulrick

    DL: Guy, Butler
DE: Clyborne (30), Bennett (34), Wise, Rivers, Davis, Kamalu
LB: KVN, Hightower, Roberts, Bentley, Sam
CB: Gilmore, Jackson, Jones, Dawson, Crossen
SAF: McCourty (32), Chung (31), Harmon, Melinfonwu

We have to ace this draft pretty much, because we ain't gettin nobody in FA that's for sure.
We are ****ed at WR, TE if Gronk retires, DL and DE if Rivers and Wise don't step up like Flowers did in second and third year.

Long way to go, plus we have BB and Brady... also time to update your signature... pretty sure the Pats have 6 Superbowls now.

I’m still thinking addressing DE in one of the first two rounds seems likely.

With the signing of an older player like Bennett, it would only make sense to draft a guy to develop behind him, especially since this is such a rich class at the position.

We’re not getting much clarity from FA so far in terms of the draft. I suppose the only need I would eliminate or lessen the priority is CB. I think we could manage with a late rounder or UDFA now. But all the other needs are still right up there. And with two WRs signed on 1 year contract.

CB seems set to me for this year, although it's always good to bring in competition and depth. I do like a lot of the corners in the draft this year, but as complementary pieces, and we have enough of those. I'd probably want to draft a corner if McCourty had only been a one year deal, but we can probably put it off until next year and double dip at DT/WR/TE. I do expect an OT and IOL pick at some point, maybe earlier than we expect, as well as Edge and safety. We'll see if they go into any other position, but I doubt this is the year for a Brady replacement, and with Boldin back for two years, I'm not anticipating a running back unless it's late.

As we predicted they will use free agency to have enough live bodies at every position to field a team and look towards free agency to add competition (man do they need it). Steve Belichick would be an upgrade at WR.

Sticking with my call, double dip at WR and DT.

For those who are saying we have problems at WR, whilst I don’t disagree, the only loss we’ve incurred since the playoffs is Hogan and he was hardly setting the field alight. Of course, Judging by the performance of our WRs not named Edelman in the SB, staying virtually the same at the position is hardly something to welcome.

I know you know this already, but we also need to keep in mind that Edelman and Dorsett are only signed one more year. We're looking at a total overhaul, and we might as well start this year instead of next, so young players have longer to acclimate -- or crash and burn. If that's the case, then we'll need to replace them with FA acquisitions.

    Draft day double dip.

Do you consider Bennett a DT or DE? If DT, we're fine there. Him and
Guy starting. Butler and Pennell backing them up. I think he's more of
a de. Would like a quicker 3-tech guy. Maybe kid from TCU Collier in 2nd.
I would like a DE very early too. Plus, a te and wr. They're my first 4 picks
    in any order.

After that, maybe an OT and Izzy.

I actually think that one of our top 4 picks should be a safety because of the uncertainty of McCourty's future after this season, and the value/quality of safeties at the top of this draft.

It would be great to bring along a rookie safety into our rotation while McCourty and Chung are still here to provide guidance and tutoring.

Oh I agree. I wouldn’t mind a triple dip. The more they draft, the better chance of hitting. My issue is deciding who. If you look at past picks, short area quickness seems to be the key. What’s your view on Darius Slayton? A 7.00 3-cone, but he’s fast, has big hands and could probably be had later than the likes of Campbell, McLaurin (thinking of speedsters here (thinking about Cooks and Dorsett being speedsters).

I’d love to get a safety, but signing JMac for 2 years. Pushed it back a year for me.
