Superbowl XLVIII Saturday?

Could you please explain how the host city would be "giving up weekend revenues"?

I say that 90+% of people who go to the SB stay overnight until the next morning already. Most check-out times are 11am or 12 noon. So, the cities are getting a breakfast and probably a lunch from people who attended the SB.
I agree with this, but the question is do the cities want the "morning after spending" to be a Sunday or a Monday? Clearly the answer is they would prefer the "morning after" spending be on Monday.

The way it is right now, people will spend on Friday night, spend on Saturday night, spend on Sunday (either at the game or local events), then leave Monday morning. If you move the game to Saturday, you have everybody leaving town on Sunday and you lose a full day of spending.

Television ratings, plain and simple, based on the number of TVs tuned in. Sunday is a huge "stay at home" night. Saturday is a huge "go out" night. Sunday night most home TVs are tuned into the game. Saturday night, many of those TVs are off because people will go out to a club/bar to watch the game. Say, for the sake of argument that 200 people are in an establishment (not having to work the next day) watching the game on 4 TVs. If those same 200 people are home on Sunday night with 5 watching in each home that's 40 TVs tuned in. Plus, the $M commercials are seen and heard closely in the homes by those 200 people, while it's unlikely the 200 in the bar can hear or see in detail those commercials.

I haven't been to New Giants Stadium in a couple years, but the place seems kind of distant from the city-fied accoutrements lending to a legitimate "host city celebration." Sure, they can celebrate in New York City, yet it's nothing like the city-stadium proximity enjoyed in places like New Orleans or even Indy. Imagine if the weather is borderline -- not bad enough to postpone the game but bad enough to seriously mess with traffic getting there. But, it'll probably be in the mid-30s, overcast, windy, no precip. Just right for a "blah" Super Bowl experience.

It's basically in the middle of nowhere in the sewers of NJ off the highway. When i went i didn't see what the big deal was..for a new stadium the year it opened...i was surprised at how...unattractive it was. maybe it was all the **** for brains sitting in the stands

Suits me.

That would make it a Sunday morning for me and I could have a "real" SB Party.

ATM it's a Monday morning event and not many people are interested in taking a day off work.
