Steelers to Remain Non-competitive Through 2021 (Tomlin contract extended)

The Steelers forum is thrilled.
for anyone that doesn’t click on the link, @203Pat is being sarcastic. They aren’t happy with Tomlin sticking around.

Big Game Tomlinson
Who?

Basically, Tomlin won A Super Bowl with Cowhers team 11 years ago.
Not to mention the only times the Tomlin led Steelers have won or been to the Super Bowl was due to them avoiding the Patriots. They would’ve lost to the Pats in ‘08 had Brady played. They also would have lost to the Pats in 2010 had they not stumbled against the Jets. Since 2011, they wouldn’t have been able to avoid the Patriots, but Tomlin has only been able to lead the Steelers to one matchup against the Patriots in 2016. That’s not good for Tomlin.

Tomlin is a good coach despite his flaws. Pittsburgh has been competitive under him for over a decade now and they've made the playoffs more often than not. The team would have to have a fairly long streak of losing seasons before ownership lets him go.

The team would have to have an epiphany of self awareness* before ownership lets him go.

*edited to reflect reality ;)

Big Game Mike, who do you think I’m talking about? He’s clutch.

Since losing the Super Bowl, the Last 8 years, missed the playoffs 3 times and was one and done 3 times. 6 of 8 years without a playoff win. That’s almost Marvin Lewis territory. Glad they’re keeping him...

Does Tomlin earn a bonus if he trips any more players?

Reread your post. You put some guy named “Tomlinson”.

Tomlin is a fraud. Offensive guru? No Defensive guru? No. Bradshaw has him pegged.

Glorified cheerleader.

That's what I'm talking about.

In 2017 he lost twice to the Jags afterJax spanked the Steelers at their house in the post season.

No he is not. His claim to fame was the D line coach and the beneficiary of a stout Vikings D line that featured Pat and Kevin Williams where teams could not run on them. It actually became pretty pointless to do so. He was also known for being a coach under the Dungy coaching tree.

Since his time with the Steelers, he’s been exposed as a glorified cheerleader. They’ve had many talented teams at least on offense yet don’t have much to show for it within the last eight years. In fact, this is a team that should have been competing for AFC championships for years.

And since letting **** LeBeau go, they’ve had an identity crisis on defense as this is supposed to be Tomlin’s specialty.

Rapistburger has been there every year Trippin' Mike has been "head coach".That's where any success they've had stems from He's a godyamned moron as far as game plan and in game decisions go.

I've quite liked his game plans over the last few years.

I have said it a million times in the last few years, no one does less with more. In a three year stretch he had the best RB, best WR, and a top 5 QB, for what? A couple of embarrassing playoff losses. He continually allows the locker room turds to fester and divide the team, he is obviously not an X's and O's coach, and aside from Ben the star players don't seem to respect him. I can't imagine Bill speaking in the locker room while Edelman is screwing around on a live social media feed. I cant imagine Bill staring blankly into the night while JuJu Shuster continually runs free in the Patriots secondary in a playoff game. He's a pretender who's go-to move is to pound his chest on the sideline.
Sure, but he’s great at whining about headsets, so we should acknowledge that just to be fair.

Part of the problem of assessing HC in the league is Belichick. He unbalances everything.

Name the top 5 coaches in the league after Belichick. Shortcomings aside, Tomlin is probably in there. Sad but true.

After BB but before Tomlin in no particular order, Carroll, Payton, Reid, Lynn, Harbaugh, McVay, Marrone, Pederson, Zimmer and (maybe) O'Brien

Carol- yes; Reid- yes; Harbaugh- yes; Pederson-probably; Zimmer-maybe. The others are very open to debate, IMO. Mostly because they haven't been coaching that long.

He's definitely a flawed coach; never said he was great. However, the team has never been out of contenton and consistently make the playoffs. Pittsburgh would be hard pressed to find a coach that would do any better, especially in the same conference as us.

Their defense was ranked 6th and 5th the past two seasons.

Like i said, last 8 years, missed the playoffs 3 times, and went 8-8 in 2 of those years. Went 1 and out in the playoffs 3 times. That is almost comparable to Marvin Lewis. And no one thinks Cincinnati is a contender.
