Now, I'm not TOO superstitious. Not more than any other fan, I suppose. Okay, PROBABLY more so than others. I have these two shirts that I wear on game day. I have to put one of them on as soon as I awaken. There's a darkish gray T-shirt with the flying elvis on that I wear if the Pats are wearing the white jersey, or an Edelman dark blue T-shirt with the Patriots Superman emblem if they have the blue jersey. Matching gym shorts and hoodies, too. It's a thing.

I'll wear a red Patriots T during the week, but never on game day. Last time I wore it, we lost, so....... never again.

I also require certain things on the table in front of me come game time. A glass 12oz mug with the Patriots logo, a gray coffee cup with black coffee, the official Patriots TV remote, a Patriots bar towel underneath everything, and at least 1 16oz PBR per quarter. Other liquors are usually restricted to dark rum (a New England favorite. There's history, after all ) but absent that, Bourbon, whiskey (even Fireball) or whatever's handy will do.

But I also make sure my Patriots ball cap is in the room, and my old-school Pats logo toque is to hand if I feel my head getting cold (or I see Brady or Edelman wearing one)

But tonight, I realized something that makes me feel MUCH more confident about Superbowl LI and a Patriots 5th ring. I hadn't thought about it until I was watching some old footage, of that 1st Superbowl, where New England cast aside the demons of '86 & '96 and brought that shiny Lombardi home to New England.

That final score? 20-17

Superbowl LI? it's 2017

Yeah, I can be even more superstitious. I Believe!

I just watched Brady 6 again. We know Giovanni Carmani was a goat farmer when it was filmed. He's a goat farmer, Brady is the G.O.A.T. Anyway, guess how many goats Carmani had then? 5. Yes, 5.

Carmani had 5 goats. The G.O.A.T. will get his #5 ?

OK ... But I don't get what the "omen" is supposed to be. Or is it that you're trying to call Brady an "old man"?

Usually, the better I feel about games beforehand, the better the Pats do...

As for why I'm not at the top of alamo's standings? Iono...

let's hope it doesn't take 404 more years for the next one after that.

I'm really liking what you did there with 2017....20-17 has been my favorite score ever since the "kick is good"

So, why not "one more" 20-17!!!!!

Because this game has all the earmarks of a shootout.

Gwedd....there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with you. That's not meant as a negative...

Similar here. Was tense as all get out before the Divisional. Loose, confident before Pittsburgh.
Now? Confident, but not ****y, but I'm thinking a 38-35 type game, with one for the thumb.

I feel kinda the same; confident, but not about to go bragging about it. I see a lower scoring game, but with a more comfortable win; 31-23.

I've got a really weird ass tradition, too.

I don't take the Xmas tree down until after the Pats are eliminated. No ****. It's a burden, for real.

I'm not as superstitious as a couple guys I know. At least I wash those shirts between games. But I also don't wear them in the off season either. I have other Patriots laundry for that.

I need to start getting as drunk as the rest of you during games. Must be missing out.

All I need is my lucky sweatshirt, a Browns sweatshirt that I bought in Cleveland in 2000 at the Pats game. I used to wear it as joke to bust the chops of my friend the Browns fan but then the Pats won some playoff games and a superbowl, then another and another, and next thing you know the lucky sweatshirt is 10-0 in the playoffs.

Then, in the off-season after the 2005 season, the lucky sweatshirt with an 11-1 playoff record disappeared. In 2006 I started to question my wife if maybe she put it in the goodwill bag. She denied it but I was skeptical. That started a run of mediocrity (well, by Pats standards) that included a 7-6 playoff record and two SB losses.

And then it happened. While cleaning out an upstairs closet years later there it was, my lucky Pats/Browns sweatshirt. It had been folded up and placed at the bottom of a pile of old sweaters. I had my lucky sweatshirt once again, and although the Pats only went 1-1 the first year, here we are now and the record has gone 7-2 since with another SB win.

That means that my lucky sweatshirt's record is now 18-3 with an 86% winning %. That's a better playoff record than Tom Brady.

Many people around the office congratulated me on the win over the Steelers. My typical replay is, "I didn't do anything to help them win, but I greatly enjoyed watching the game"

I love how batsh!t crazy you guys are wished my energy helped the team win, but I'm not feeling it does . I just appreciate what we have as I've known the dark times too.
