So, for Sunday... it's James White?!?! Where the hell did all our running backs go?!?!

Y'all forget about me?

Indeed we did. Something to do with traumatic brain injury...

5,100 = Us owning every player in the NFL and division 1 ball.

75 = Us not being short at RB/WR in week 2.

53 = It is what it is.

It would be more advantageous to the Patriots vs. other teams, IMO...we have some of the best teachers in the league, but limited class room time because we gotta give guys walking papers.

No matter what number you run, you'll always have numbers/depth issues, relative to other teams, in an injury sport. The Patriots had

Develin
Michel
Burkhead
White
Hill

and that wasn't enough, because of planning (Bolden let go, additional RB not kept despite Michel's injury) decisions. Adding another 1-2 RBs that aren't good enough to make the team now isn't mandated, or supported, as a result such planning meeting with the realities of NFL life.

It still pisses me off how careless he was. Why would a guy of his size feel the need to go at the legs of of Mathiu?

Because he’s slow. He’s way faster than me and you but he’s way slower that the skill position guys.

We traded em all for punters

With the NFL being a game of attrition whilst only putting 11 guys on a field at time, the larger the roster size...the better a team can maange its roster even with guys who can't play.

For instance, wouldn't it be helpful if the Pats could carry 4 QB's every season: The starter, the backup, the developmental prospect, and the atheltic guy to play a mobile QB for Ernie's scout team? Instead of investing in Etling's education/training with the possibility of him being scooped up at any time and also having someone on the PS imitate a mobile QB vs. improving his own game.

It would allow us to have players to step up without a crash course..more homegrown talent.

I think the protocol for concussions is that first you have to become pain free and pass some cognitive tests. Then you can practice lightly (I think that was yesterday). Then if there is no problems you can practice more vigorously. (I think that was today). THEN if there are no problems you can practice fully and be out of the protocol.

BTW- I think any limitations for Burkhead today had more to do with his on going knee issues than his "concussion". Also it is curious that it was never "officially" mentioned that he was actually IN the concussion protocol, just that he missed practice because a "concussion issue"

Here's what the NFL concussion protocol means for Colts QB Jacoby Brissett

Mason, Thuney and Schwenke had faster 40 times than Develin.

IIRC, BB was in favor of the expansion of the PS, but opposed to the expansion of active rosters.

The larger the roster size, the easier it is to manage when injuries occur. The Pats do that pretty well already. In 2015, they made it to the AFCCG and were close to getting to another SB, in spite of all the injuries. Expanding the active roster probably benefits other teams more than it benefits the Pats.

I knew he was slow, but I didn’t realize he was this slow. Forget my half-joking comment about him getting carries in an emergency situation. Belichick may rather have Hoyer come in and QB sneak it 20 times.

And yet BB is one of the most steadfast opponents of expanding the roster.

Develin has had 7 total carries in his entire career.

Maybe the Pats promote Etling? Leading rusher in the pre-season, y'know.

If they want to run any significant amount, and Michel and Burkhead can’t go, they will sign Farrow from the PS (possibly Webb). Question then is who do they release?

You have to have a cutoff number. 53, 75, 5,100, whatever. There can't be unlimited money being paid to unlimited numbers of people, for the obvious reason that there's not unlimited money. If a team wants to carry 4 QBs, it is welcome to do so, within the confines of the roster limits. And, if they had 4 QBs every season, you'd be asking why they can't have 5.

Wouldn't be asking for a 5th QB...but I'd be asking for a 7th WR, LOL.

Seems like both Sony and the Burkhead will be able to go. Hopefully they can avoid getting hurt again.

Was there a report on this that I missed, or just speculating based on practice attendance?

Are they actually out or are you being sarcastic?
I’m being sarcastic. People saying on Tuesday that white will be out only RB warrant sarcasm.

Speculation based on practice
