I had an employee come in late today due to the snowy conditions. She even had left early and still didn't get here on time. I told her it was ok.
Had I been a coach of a football team (no less, one with rumored locker room problems) I would have done the exact same thing. If you can't see the difference between a 'working' job and one that pays millions to play a game, then I can't help you.

If the reports regarding the traffic because of bad weather is true and tha'ts the reason why they couldn't get there on time, then this is stupid.

What kind of message are you really sending? That you're unreasonable?

Just like a regular job. If you're late, you're late and will be dealt with. As others have said, 60+ guys made it just fine (including someone who just saw his son be born) and these guys knew ahead of time what weather they were facing. The team is 7-5 and BB needs to let them know that they are not allowed to slack off in any way possible... no matter what the excuse is.

The message is simply no more excuses. If football is not your #1 priority right now then go home.

I think the long term affect of this will be positive but I am concerned about how Moss is going to react. That will be the most interesting thing to watch this week.

As for those of you that think this is a bit excessive, I agree that in the real working world it would be. But football is not the real world either. Its run closer to how the military is run, esp. with BB at the helm. No nonsense. No excuses. Tedy Johnson, on Felger-Mazz this afternoon, gave a pretty candid description of the tone that exists in a Belicheck locker room. He casts a very large shadow and you know its all business when you enter. Very much like a drill sargeant.

Weather isn't an extenuating cirumstance if you know the weather is going to be bad the day before. It's also not working for slave drivers. It's called professional courtesy. I understand what you're saying but unless this storm was unexpected (it wasn't), you shouldn't use it as an excuse.

Traffic in bad weather is not something you can measure with 100% accuracy. I once left 40 minutes than usual and was still 2 hours late because 3 accidents closed 3 different roads.

Despite the nonsense some people here are trying to put forth, weather and traffic do make even the most driven people late for appointments of various kinds.
