FOXBORO -- Former Patriots tight end Christian Fauria said Bill Belichick's philosophy on punctuality was simple.
"Bill used to say, 'It's New England. Make sure you leave yourself enough time to get here. And that doesn't mean you can call 10 minutes before 8 and tell me you'll be late. Regardless of what time you're supposed to be here, leave time for inclement weather.'
"In my book, it's unbelievably careless," said Fauria, who won two Super Bowls in his time here.
Asked if he thought the disciplined players would now be prone to bailing completely on the team, Fauria said, "I hope they're more mentally tough than to give up because they're late. But if a guy who's already disenchanted -- and Adalius [Thomas] certainly plays that way -- it now goes even lower and could add fuel to that fire."
