Should we trade for Jalen Ramsey? [Update: traded to Pittsburgh]

Teams looking for a one-year rental in a quest to go all-in are the appropriate suitors for a 31-year old CB.

Teams coming off back-to-back 4-13 seasons are not.

Not the first time his name has come up in a 'Sign the Beast' thread

i like those threads. They are fun

What the hell is wrong with the current NFL? Teams slowed down Hill and Waddle last year because they couldn't run the football. Now the get rid of a player that had career year and who was a perfect outlet for that offense. Then they get rid of their best CB on a defense that is mediocre at best.

I'm seeing a really bad trend of teams getting worse, but thinking they miraculously going to be better the following season.

Pats are finishing no worse than 2nd in the division and this will be McDaniel's last season in Miami.
The want Manning?

Are you people still confident of a win over these Steelers this fall? I'm not. Another old but quality blue chipper added to their roster. Ramsey might be a step slow but I'm sure he can handle our JV set of receivers. Hopefully Diggs is ready to go for that game. Really think Polk can get open??

I would not have been a fan of this move and I'm glad it didn't happen. It is a win now move and we aren't there. i wouldn't want to use so much cap space on a short term rental. We already did that with Diggs cause we had no choice. It isn't a way to build a team. One of those moves in fine. Too many gets you in trouble.

You save your cap for the Milton's of free agency. We have Gonzo coming up and I expect us to be early on him and break the bank. If we also sign Ramsay now we are pretty much done next year after that, but we will have other needs. And I want the option to spend more on offense. Our D will be fine. We want to balance our approach, over spending on one side often leads to a talent deficit on the other, and that isn't how you win.

Steelers will be a tough game. It is a must win for the pats. It will have massive playoff implications.

What Rodgers do you expect? Unless he turns back the clock I'm not sure Ramsey and Jannu change anything.

Even before this if Rodgers somehow bounces back then they instantly become a tough game.

Otherwise it should be a W.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins do get a little tougher on defense. They added a talented safety in Fitzpatrick, who returns to their secondary after having been dealt away previously by the club to Pittsburgh back in 2019. But Smith’s departure is one most Patriots fans likely aren’t sorry to see happen. In two games last season, he finished with 14 catches for 149 yards along with a touchdown, including moving the chains on 10 of his receptions.

Seeing Ramsey depart is also a positive for New England. He finished third on the team in tackles with five in their first meeting in 2024, along with 2 passes defended in Week 5, and then followed that up with 4 more tackles, another pass defended, and two quarterback hits in the second meeting in Week 12. Things apparently were incredibly tense with Ramsey and head coach Mike McDaniel, with Miami Herald writer Omar Kelly reporting that the two were not on speaking terms prior to the trade.

New England will see both him and Smith again in week three in September against Pittsburgh, but that’s still an improvement from having to face both twice per season.
