Should we trade for Jalen Ramsey? [Update: traded to Pittsburgh]

What the hell is wrong with the current NFL? Teams slowed down Hill and Waddle last year because they couldn't run the football. Now the get rid of a player that had career year and who was a perfect outlet for that offense. Then they get rid of their best CB on a defense that is mediocre at best.

I'm seeing a really bad trend of teams getting worse, but thinking they miraculously going to be better the following season.

Pats are finishing no worse than 2nd in the division and this will be McDaniel's last season in Miami.
Ramsey demanded a trade. They got back a pro bowl S.
Smith also demanded a new contract or trade.

Arguably Smith is just a jag who put up #s only because defenses took away the WRs and left him open a lot. Is that worth $12 mill? Next man up probably produces as much.

Jonnu couldn't do squat here
was the offense too hard for him to learn?
did he mentally check out after getting paid?
Henry appeared to thrive, Jonnu fade into jag territory

It was wildly reported the offense was a issue for jonnu... imagine how much harder it was on him when his OC (Patricia) couldn't teach it to him..

They could've ignored Ramsey. And now they have a starting CB is named "Storm Duck".

Unlikely and history proves that. The most amount of yards the 3rd option has put up since McDaniel's arrival was Trent Sherfield with 417 yards/2 TD's. It went down in 2023 with 366 yards before Smith's arrival being the 2nd most targeted player on offense with the 2nd most receiving yards and leading the team in TD's. TE's in McDaniel's offense since 2022 were Mike Gesicki 326 yards/5 TD's, 2023 Durham Symthe 366 yards/0 TD's, 2024 Jonnu Smith 884/8 TD's.

Teams will do the same thing in 2025 as they did in 2024 by playing cover 4 and handcuffing both Smith and Waddle. As they've done the last 3 seasons, the Dolphins offense will flame out once November rolls around.

He was badly misused in NE. It was obvious when the plays were going to him and he was constantly catching passes in the backfield with defenders waiting for him.

Hill was dealing with injuries for much of the season
Tua missed 6 games

I don't think McDaniels badly misused him in 2021. He just couldn't do what the Pats wanted him to do. Maybe the next year he was misused, but who was properly used that year.

McDaniels absolutely misused him. All he did was set him up for screens like a RB.

Media isn't buying that on Hill and have noticed the same thing I have. Hill also called out the Bills for playing cover 4 against them which slows down their passing attack. They are a big play or no play offense with no running game or intermediate passing game.

Can’t force a player to show up.

Hill and Waddle had 1000 less receiving yards last year so prior years dint compare. Unless you think Smith was such a beast he took opportunities away from them. His production was a function of the system and he is a JAG.

Nah he dropped a bunch of passes, ran the wrong routes and stumbled and bumbled around so his use became next to nothing. He earned it.

I think Jonnu just couldn't get the offense down. route adjustments. changes at the los. etc.
the only way to get him acclimated was to get the ball into his hands and let him try to make a play. that meant screen passes. pooch passes. even hand offs on a WR reverse.

bad decision trying to fit a round peg into a square hole

What a thread lol

McDaniels didn’t want to utilize a two TE offense, but more importantly Mac Jones sucked royally.

Add those together and it is tough to succeed, but that describes the collaboration entirely… a bunch of people pulling in different directions.
