I know this is not a KC forum, but now that Pioli and Cassel are with the Chiefs, I was thinking a bit about their situation.

The popular think has KC taking Aaron Curry or an OT at #3. But with Cassel in the fold, should they seriously consider taking Michael Crabtree (particularly if Curry and Jason Smith go 1-2 on some order)? Consider the following:

- If Curry is still available, Mangini is rumored to have a major hard-on for him and wants to trade up from #5. KC could likely trade back 2 spots, save on contract, get back a high 2nd round pick, and still get an impact player such as Crabtree, Raji, Orapko or Eugene Monroe.

- Making Cassel successful should be one of Pioli's major concerns. A lot of people will link Pioli's success with Cassel's success. Giving Cassel Crabtree and Bowe at WR would be a great way to do this, especially if Pioli can convince LJ, Tony Gonzalez and Brian Waters to stay, and if the Chiefs feel that Brandon Albert can move to OT to protect Cassel's backside. The Chiefs could take someone like Shonn Green at #67 to split time with LJ (or take over from him if they trade him) as a pounding RB, in order to have a balanced running game along with a strong passing game. They would have a very competitive offense. They already have a good nucleus of defensive talent (unless they scrap it all by converting to the 3-4).

- Much as Curry is a stud, it's not clear that any LB short of Lawrence Taylor is worth the #3 pick. If KC can pick up additional picks (trading back from #3 or trading some of their veterans) then there are a lot of good LB prospects who should be available a bit later in the draft.

Just a thought.

I'm fairly certain they will pick Curry, and that's why Pioli wanted Vrabel.

He's bringing Vrabel over 100% with the thought that he needs someone to bring along Curry the right way...

Snowball this is hell, hell this is snowball, now play nice.

NO Dwayne Bowe is a STUD
Gonzo is still solid

They need more help on defense they through away too many close games last year because their defense couldn't hold the opposing offense.
Curry will help bring the defense around while being mentored by of the of the best in the business Vrable.
If not they will trade down and get more picks since they are still somewhat rebuilding.
