I guess we can only hope the Krafts' standards are not as low as yours are.I wouldn't. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, or, even a blind squirrel will eventually find a nut, Etc.

So you think he should be fired and replaced properly, and thus voted that he shouldn't be fired.I voted no because this won't go far enough. This piecemeal change is just dragging on the inevitable. RKK should do what he should have done last season, cast a wide net and interview HC & GM candidates only from the outside.
Robert, your internal candidates are not good and haven't been good for the last 4 seasons. You are not holding a dynasty together. That dynasty is way back in the rear view mirror. Time to start fresh.
FWIW
But this **** is everywhere ... beating out the telenovela crap.
I think we generally do agree on a lot of things here. My point is simply that I don’t know how much more the owners and GM could have done that would’ve made any difference. Mayo had almost zero ability to build his own staff due to zero connections and very little experience, so he had to turn to the GM, and the GM had a very hard time finding interested candidates due to the fact that they were unconvinced by/were not impressed by Mayo themselves. The GM didn’t pick Mayo either and was just saddled with him and then asked to build his staff for him. That’s very unconventional and it’s no surprise it didn’t go well. The only guy Mayo was able to bring on as “his guy” was Covington and he’s been awful. Was the OC truly selected by Mayo or was it Wolfe? Sounds more like no one else was convinced or paid enough to take such a ****ty job until it’s become clear that Maye is good.
I don’t blame Mayo for taking the opportunity, anyone who ultimately wants to be a head coach is likely to gun for it when the opportunity presents itself.
I don’t agree that a QB can just mitigate a historically bad offensive line to the point of it becoming not a huge issue. It’s impressive what Maye has done but what good can a QB do when his receivers are also an abomination or his OL cannot block without holding and costing the team points every damn time we get to the red zone? This is an Eliot Wolfe problem.
But that’s getting away from the point. I’m pretty sure I said that the defense is why he ought to be fired so what are we disagreeing on here? Are we supposed to definitively state that Jerod Mayo is the worst head coach in history and he has committed crimes against humanity?
I think it’s already time to pull the plug so I largely agree. I’m just also acknowledging that the owners and GM didn’t help him out in anyway. This is an organization wide disaster, not just him.
I don’t think we can know for sure why we ended up with AVP. I’m sure there were a number of reasons (including an inexperienced HC) but I always start with the money first and foremost. And naturally ownership would leak that they offered so and so really good money. Whether that’s true or not, that’s the question.I think we generally do agree on a lot of things here. To your point about pay - I don’t think this was a pay issue. Reportedly the team had offered Nick Caley a sizeable contract but he said “nah I’m good”. I imagine others were in the same boat. I’ve heard several times that the team spent a lot of money just to get AVP to agree.
Vrabel looks like the least unsuccessful but he too got fired.
4. Appoint a coach off the Belichick tree but get him to transform the coaching by bringing in new blood and try to change what had clearly become a toxic culture.
If GM, OC and DC went but they kept Mayo, I'd give him another chance.
Failure is all they’ve got.…
We have entered the stage where the focus of this team and staff is to make you feel good about failure.
We can see their standards on the field every week.I guess we can only hope the Krafts' standards are not as low as yours are.
Well a normal successful, driven human being would say they should own it, refuse to accept it has to be that way, and do whatever it takes ti fix it.Failure is all they’ve got.
Should they try to make you feel bad about it?
I’m with you up to this point, then we disagree. There is no reason to except the HC from the terrible hires, and plenty of reason to include him.RLKAG!
…
I don't think (4) was a bad idea.
But they (the Krafts or the Krafts plus Mayo?) made a terrible hire at GM and terrible hires at OC and DC. So, reluctantly, I think that he has to go -- but GM, OC and DC must go too.
If GM, OC and DC went but they kept Mayo, I'd give him another chance.
Exactly. The poor performance is on his plate. It’s gotten worse all year, not better. That’s all we need to know.…
The natural question is WHY keep Mayo if you're doing all that? What has he demonstrated to become indispensable? As far as I can tell, not much if anything. Reinforcing the foundation with concrete makes little sense for a cardboard structure. Aside from that, few quality candidates will be interested in working for an unproven head coach already on shaky ground.
You can do FIE ER MAY OOOOOWe really need some loud « Fire Mayo » chant the last 2 games at Gillette!
Why bother? You want the OC to run the show, holding over AVP just confuses things, and what has he don’t to deserve staying? The offense sucks, it’s his offense.I believe that they need a superior X's and O's OC for next season. But, I would keep AVP as QB Coach.
No, it doesn't. He's done well just as a QB Coach and will have no bearing on the OC (especially if the OC likes what AVP had done with Maye thus far). If a new OC wants to bring in his own QB Coach, then fine. Buy AVP, based on what he's done solely on Maye's development, doesn't HAVE to go.Why bother? We are 31st in points, 30th in yards.Between Wolff, Mayo, Covington and AVP, AVP is the one that has done the best job this year. Not surprise Covington and his friend Mayo will conspire to scape goat him.
Kind of crazy that it will work if you consider that there much more talent on D and the defense has been worse than the offense by a country mile
Why are you giving the guy who can’t run a competent offense credit for Maye? No, it doesn't. He's done well just as a QB Coach and will have no bearing on the OC (especially if the OC likes what AVP had done with Maye thus far). If a new OC wants to bring in his own QB Coach, then fine. Did you not take Reading Comprehension in School? I said that AVP has done well working with Maye strictly in the capacity as a QB Coach. Just let it go. You disagree. Fine. I'm done with this "You're right and am wrong" B.S. You clearly have to prove that you are always right. I've noticed that in 99% of your Thread responses. Move on!Why are you giving the guy who can’t run a competent offense credit for Maye?
The only thing the offense is competent at is Maye running and AVP hasn’t called single designed run.
Maye is looking good despite horrible coaching, game planing and okay calling.
Hell every Patriot fan is sold on him and he has won 1 game. Restricting him to screen passes and dump offs on the majority of the pass calls is holding him back.
AVP is Mayes worst enemy and the sad part is Maye likes him so he doesn’t realize it.
Keeping him around to teach Maye more of what he is teaching him so far will lead to Maye declining.
I know you want to find and saving grace but making up a belief that AVP is helping Maye not holding him back isn’t it.
We are 32nd in passing yards, 31st in yards per completion, 31st in 20+ passes, last in 40+ passes, 31st in first downs, 31st in scoring, 30th in total yards.
When you watch games do you say we are the worst offense because of Maye thank god AVP is coaching our problem up?
