Shock night might not be over: Butler rumours

More smart things than stupid things? Yes he has.

A hell of a lot more smart things than stupid things? As a GM? I disagree.
GM's...

Draft
Trade
Sign UFAs
Cut players
Sign FAs
Evaluate players.

In the last 17 years if you think BB the GM has done more bad than good you are not paying attention.

I've got to be honest here. I don't think a Butler trade's going to happen before the deadline.

Of course, I might be going out on a bit of a limb with this.

Depends on whether you're grading him straight up, or against a league-wide baseline, perhaps. There's no doubt that he's a top level GM in the league even though he's had some real dry spells in various areas, at least as long as he's got Brady being Brady.

Fourier Series has 1,000 bucks that says you’re wrong and that the trade actually happened.

Just to follow this up...

With JAG gone, here's what's left from the 2014-2017 drafts, player-wise:

Thuney
C. Jones

BB has been here for 17 seasons now, 14 AFC East Titles, 11 AFC Championship games and 7 Superbowls and there are those who question is ability as a GM???.. That success is unparalleled in the NFL all time.

No shock moves for Butler.. he is still a NEP.

Trade Butler away for a solid 5th rounder and bring back Darius Bustler Connecticut product.

Ahhhh the ole "everyone is a homer" excuse.
Yup, it's like the dead give-away use of the term "pom-poms" in a derogatory manner. The Felger/Shaughnessy (and there are others around here, as well) jihad movement that places "homers" in the same category as pedophiles and serial killers.

That would be useful information if there was a league norm to compare it against. I've no idea what that list looks like for other teams.

That's not what I wrote.

I'm not sure how else I could have taken this? You are saying BB-the-GM has done more dumb things than smart things.

What do you count as dumb? Missing on a 7th rounder?

Do we need to go through every single transaction since 2000 and mark "smart" or "dumb" next to them and add up the columns?

I guess if you do it that way then seeing how every GM misses on the draft more than they hit, you might be right but thats not reality.

Including Jimmy G, I count 11 hits out of 17. Of the remaining 6 non- hits, there's at least 3, Rivers, garcia, and E.Roberts that can't be called misses- would be in the " yet to be determined" class.
I have no idea how this stacks up vs. the other 31 teams, but my guess is it is near the top.

Tom Brady had a lot to do with that.
