Darby just turned 24. He has 5 INT, 42 PD and 172 tackles in 2.5 seasons (he missed the first half of 2017 in Philly with dislocated ankle). He started opposite Gilmore for Buffalo in his first two seasons. In 2016, Buffalo's pass-D was top-5.

Darby's on the last year of his rookie contract in 2018 for $1.06M.

Maybe a 4th/conditional 3rd? Makes more sense to me than paying Sherman $7M (or more) for a 1-year rental.

None of it us surprising. As much as posters disagree with it the Pats see Rowe as a starter.

Sherman is worse in the slot than on the outside that is well known and documented.

We have JJones and CJones, a draft and the usual veteran CB camp signing to look forward to. So no clue what the hell your CB4 or CB5 comment is supposed to be about. Or how it is connected to spending 7-10m on Sherman.

So we are comparing a misevaluation in the draft that happens to every team because projecting college players is shown to be a crapshoot to FA decisions. Doesn't get more apples to oranges than that.

Of course you can and there are enough valid reasons to do so. Not spending 7-10m on Sherman coming off an achillies injury when your secondary is already the strength of the defense (and sixth expensive unit in the league) is not one of those.

yes because drafting a bust in the 2nd round is the same as drafting one in the 7th.

It's just you could of made your Secondary tops in the NFL but we have to live with the reality that more than likely Richards is on our 53 man roster.
