Our defense in 12 wins allowed 82 points, and 7 tds.
The 2010 jets allowed 20 or more in half their games.
The 2009 jets were better than that but not as good as the 2019 patriots.
The jets, like the patriots, like every team in nfl history did worse against the best teams they played.

Everytime Brady's name comes up you're not obligated to diminish him ya know. We get it.

I’m not diminishing his legacy. That would be stupid.

I’m saying the loss of 2019 Brady is not a big one because it isn’t,

It’s just a matter of preference. Yes the patriots defense played fantastic the first half of the season. I just put more stock in how the defenses shape up towards the end and the playoffs and felt those jets defenses played better.

Folks are in for a real shock when Stidham screws up and loses a game that Brady would have won no problem.

Brady made it look so easy. The Pats did not need to worry about the QB position for 20 years. In 2 years from now, Stidham could be the topic of a guy moving on and not by his choice unless the Pats choose to be a franchise mired in mediocrity like a Detroit Lions.

You make a good point about Brady. As a fan, I never felt like the Pats were out of a game. The opponent knew it, the opponent’s fans knew it. You’re never out of a game with Brady at the helm. It was just an incredible phenomenon that lasted 20 years, the most clutch QB ever, by a mile. I had 2 people who said the Pats could come back in SB 51, because they knew what Brady was capable of, and how great and clutch he was, and those 2 people were rooting against the Pats. We may never see anyone like Brady again.

That being said, that’s over with. We don’t have Brady anymore. Will the team, AND Stidham go through some rough patches ? Hell yeah, it’ll be his first time starting in the NFL. But the Patriot Way is still here. I think as long as Kraft owns the team, and Belichick is coaching, we will have very few mediocre seasons.

Yes, the Pats will be well coached and not a laughing stock, but greatness is measured in World Championships and simply not just qualifying for the post season only to win a lower draft position. Teams like the Houston Texans that are bumps in the road to the real teams heading to the Super Bowl.

IMO its too early to go there.

There are immeasurable Brady leadership traits that have helped keep the team's eye on the prize.

As an old movies fan I try to envision my QB as a tough Sergeant Stryker enspiring his men to attack the hill.

Can Stidham be a steady day to day lockerroom leader and enspire his teammates to many victories is a little nagging concern.

This concern lives in a little part of a my little brain and occassionally pops out and gleefully shouts "Tony Eason".

I keep seeing articles that I try to avoid questioning whether Stidham has the necessary chutzpah to handle a NFL pass rush.

On the more positive side good ole Stid has performed well in big SEC games and has a hot rich GF so what could possibly go wronge.

Paying Stidham roughly 600K allows them to pay down cap debt accumulated and field a well rounded team in 2020. That wasn't going to happen by paying Brady again.

They had a ton of draft picks this year and the next, along with a load of cap space opening up next year.

    TEAM wins championships.

It’s going to be so funny when people are gushing about him in Tampa this year while Stidham is proving if he’s even worth the time of day

He probably will do well there. Which of course means squat relative to the Patriots. Stidham or Hoyer matching Brady’s 88 passer rating from 2019 shouldn’t be hard to do.

IMO this team is run by a guy who relishes the thought of being the first team to win team of the decade 3 straight times.

In addition BB hates Shula and he will stay on to pass his wins record.

A great Vegas bet for Pats fans would be predict the day BB surpasses Shula.

Like Joltin Joe the magic number is 56.

So if I go with 10 annual wins I will pick the second Thursday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday in November 2025 at 25-1 odds?

I learned a valuable lesson today from SP1 to remember to check posters names at PFT comments.

Todays' PFT Stidham story has quite few long time Pats posters ripping the Stid Man and depressing me until I saw it was 1 lone Irish negative nancy named Ted Murph.

So it is too early to be talking nicknames?

    BB opts for Stid.

I kinda like the Stid Man.

A Texas raised boy who this time plays the victim in a SNL sexual harrassment skit.

    Will Hastings UDFA WR Auburn........BINKY

After missing the entire 2018 season with a torn ACL, Hastings caught 19 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown last year. In 2017 with Stidham under center, Hastings had 26 receptions for 525 yards and four TDs.

    (NBCSports)

    20.1 yds/reception

People will realize real fast it’s not the amazing throws he made but the ill advised ones he didn’t attempt that were the real difference

    sounds good

Consider that it is extremely rare to go deep into the playoffs with out at least a good quarterback.

Consider the history of quarterbacks drafted in the 4th round or later.
    =====
So sure, the rest of the team may be better in 2021 if we pay $49M less on the quarterback position for 2020 and 2021.

But sometime, we need a winning quarterback in order to win. Personally, I would liked another competitor this year, and then another next year, until we had a good NFL quarterback, and a good backup. I don't know who.

My personal choice would likely have been Fromm, with the hope that Stidham would beat him out, and that he would be a backup in 2021 (or compete to be a backup in 2021).
