The logic is McKown doesn’t deserve a job because of the racial makeup of past hires, so the Texans should eliminate all white candidates as a make up call.
I think coaches should be hired on merit, not on race, religion etc.....On McGowen ....His only formal coaching experience is one year as his son's high school quarterbacks coach....

Don't see how he's qualified to be a head coach in the NFL over any other candidate....that's just my opinion though.

Are you honestly telling me that they should weight their hiring decision based upon black history month?
So how many extra points do you give toward black peiple during February?
I'm telling you that given this lawsuit, and the NFL hypocritical claims of diversity, that it would be symbolic they hire all 9 white coaches during BHM. You don't believe me? See what happens.

That's your twisted bigoted logic. The logic is there are way more qualified black men with years of coaching and HC experience than McCown, who's never coached in his life. I hope they hire him.

I can see Mayo being pissed if Mccown gets hired. A guy who’s paying his dues as position coach then calling the defensive plays getting passed up for a guy with no coaching experience.

Lavictoire, how is it not an embarrassment?
Why is it an embarrassment there is currently one black coach? Are you embarrassed that there are only 30% white players in the NFL while there are 70% black players? No you are not embarrassed. Me neither.Who cares? They pick the best players. Why concern ourself with racial bean counting? It is getting very old and tiresome. The Jets had a black coach too not long ago., the Bengals, the Lions and Dolphins. There were maybe three or four at one time. Coaches come and go. Blacks are supposed to be 13% of the population so 4 black coaches among 32 teams would reflect the general population but really the number would be less as the percentage of black males at coaching age from that 13% is maybe one or two black coaches. Maybe they just hire the best coaches from who is available just as they do players and let the racial chips fall as they may.

Why would he want to do that?

Assuming the reporting is correct (and I've seen nothing to make me doubt it):

I side with Leftwich on that, but it's still what it is. The guy who took the gig was willing to deal with Baalke. Leftwich wanted a package deal, with him as the HC and Adrian Wilson as the GM.

Mayo isn't getting hired. Most HC hires are either OCs, DCs, or ex HCs. Sure, you have guys like Judge, a ST coach getting hired once in a while, but its rare. That's the main issue, the black positional coaches aren't getting the promotions to coordinators. And when they do, they still don't get hired.

They're not hiring the best man, they're hiring the best white man.
They are hiring who they think the best man is. What would you assume the second best man isn’t white also?
That’s the point. If it’s a bad hire it’s deteimental to all candidates regardless of race.

You start from the presumption that white = racist and everything that happens to a black person is solely because they are black and that is ludicrous.

Whether McKown is a terrible hire or not is about the decision making ability of the man making the decision, not race.
A stupid hire does not equal racism.

If you are hiring the best man for the job, lawsuits, history months and symbolism are irrelevant.

Are you telling me that you believe black candidates should get favoritism during February and because someone filed a lawsuit?
Basing decisions on race is racist.

One important thing to mention here that I think is getting missed is teams right now are looking mostly at OCs to be their HC because of the offensive focus of the NFL. Most of the black coaches come up through the defensive side of the ball which also hurts their chances because of the way the league has changed.
What!? No racism? That cant be. What gets me is the gross disparity in the number of black (70%) vs white players (30%)and they completely ignore it.

Tbh I don't think that's a huge ask? Most new hires want to put their stamp on the team in different ways. We've all seen QB's get shipped out who are 10 X more important. Plus Baalke's track record.

I'm a little surprised that he has the pull he does.

I actually think Doug is a good hire for Trevor though.

How Bieniemy and Leftwich haven't gotten HC jobs is beyond me. Super Bowl coordinators typically get HC jobs.

Who cares? Jeezus, how about the qualified black people who get overlooked. Bean counting? These are people.

There is a real answer, but it is complicated and requires you to understand socio-economic factors and role models, and all kinds of icky stuff that ain't gonna jive with your world view and the effort you are willing to put in...so meh

So now qualifications don't matter. Gottcha.

The numbers speak for themselves. There's a systemic diversity issue in the NFL coaching ranks. The problem is the owners.

You're such a clown.

Are you blind? first explain the player disparity and apply that answer to the coach disparity.
