Seahawks release Shaun Alexander [Update: Pats or Colts?]

For some reason I am really expecting Alexander to land here (well not "here" in China, but N.E.). Ever since I heard he was with some of the guys in South FLA I've had that feeling, even before he was cut. We'll see. Personally, I'm pretty luke warm about it.

Captain and Coke out the nose!

It's all good. I pulled up a pic of Jennifer Love Hewitt and licked the monitor clean.

I hope it was an old picture of her. Anything recent is meh.

NO WAY should New England even consider Alexander. I'm from WA state and get to see many Seahawk games and it is easy to see how his whole career just went downhill after they lost Hutchinson. Many hardcore Seattle fans that I know here are celebrating because they feel that the team can finally get a young RB that can hit the holes hard and not bounce east and west ALL the time trying to make something out of nothing. After he got his contract, Alexander just faded. Some of it was injuries that slowed him down, part of it could be age and wear and tear, but overall, even when healthy, it was easy to see during games that he wasn't the same anymore. My friends that are hardcore fans were booing, yes, booing Alexander this year and were much happier when Morris or Weaver were in instead.

Also, Pats already have 5 rbs on the roster. I know the Pats have kept 5 on the roster before (few years back), but I don't see them with 5 come final cut downs. They will definitely not keep 6. Personally, I saw a lot more positives from Kyle Eckel this last year than Alexander and Eckel is still learning. Evans is valuable to the team IMO as he is a good blocker and can also fill in as RB when injuries occur as proven in the past. Faulk...should I even mention how valuable he is. Morris has done a great job last year until the freak injury, but is expected to be back healthy and will be a great compliment to Maroney.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that the Pats probably aren't even interested in Alexander at all and maybe the Colts aren't either, but he is just blowing smoke to raise his own value at this point. Those of you who want Alexander, tell me what exactly you're seeing in him that is so appealing besides his name? Shaun Alexander is WASHED UP GARBAGE NOW.

Re: Seahawks release Shaun Alexander

Wasn't Alexander in S. Florida with the Pats O at that charity event this past week? That's weird, isn't it?

This is an excellent point.

I expect the conversation went something like this.....

"So Sean, now that you have your money from Seattle, Don't you think its time to come here and get your ring? Come here, play for less, run your @ss off for 1 season, Get your ring, then get a big contract somewhere or just retire"

Do I want Alexander? Yes. Reason? He will more than likely come super cheap. Having been paid by Seattle already, he is more likely to turn down the slightly larger payday from another team, for the chance to play with the greatest offense ever assembled, and he will only be here for the ring, so he will have a reason to run hard.
These types of signings make more sense than trading for Jared Allen or Chad Johnson, because your not signing a dozen probowlers to monster deals and trading away all your draft picks for older talent. You get multiple veteran talents to platoon for less money, and keep your draft picks for young blood. I'm sure that Jason Taylor also wants to come here, but the Fins will want too much in return relative to his age. He would probably play for less to come here, but he won't have the opportunity unless he holds the fins over a barrel and says, send me to New England or I retire (which is possible).

I get the feeling the last couple of years that this team will have continued success for years based on these types of players coming in to win one before they hang it up. That would be great for us.
The path through the NFL would go: Get drafted...play and succeed with team XYZ...Get big contract from XYZ... get released/demand trade from team XYZ...play for Patriots and get ring... Retire....Flash my superbowl ring and get big paycheck tp become an embaressing/punchdrunk talking head analyst.

Sorry for the length of this post. I just wanted to touch on a bunch of points about players being talked about on this board.
I'm sure many people will disagree with me on this. You are probably right
But, opinions are like @ssh***s , and I just wanted to show you mine :woohoo:

One word... NO!

Heck, if Hitler, Stalin, Mao, or Pol Pot are cheap enough, sign 'em for TC fodder and see who makes the team.

(The image of Rodney hitting Hitler strikes me as funny.)

Oh Alexander>Stalin

Not exactly relevant. If I accused my boss of stabbing me in the back after I fell short of some random measurement of personal glory, I'd be fired on the spot. So, if you want to make the his-job-to-my-job analogy, he's coming out ahead no matter what anyone calls him.

Pol Pot ran a 4.8 forty, which is good at the position of Ruthless Genocidal Dictator. But he's lost a step.
