Schefter Report: Falcons Plan to Hire Raheem Morris as Head Coach for 2024 season

Kraft vindicated. Clearly league didn’t see him as a top tier coach anymore.
Patriots still need to produce, but this gives Kraft a huge cushion. Now regardless of what happened he can say "if I'm so dumb why did nobody else go grab, I probably gave him longer than anyone else would have". Probably let's Kraft relax a little more.

I was told the job was already agreed to with Belichick more than a week ago. I posted that here in this thread when I found out. Immediate family member who has been in a suite at Falcons games w/ one of their biggest donor/clients. That's how my family member learned that.

Yes, a very underwhelming choice, but you don't become the lowly Falcons by doing anything else.

If I'm Blank, and 86, I think I'd prefer some immediate gratification.

Rich McKay is exposed, glad I’m a Pats fan and not a Falcon’s fan

This was all about Rich Mckay…he and Bill don’t like eachother.

Bigger issue for Pats is that reports are no one wants the OC job as it isn’t “appealing”.

My gut says Mcdaniels comes back snd even that will have to be as a favor to the Krafts.

Raheem > Bill ?
Who knows? Bill wasn’t exactly amazing in Cleveland. Morris is still a young guy and was CRAZY young his first time around.

It’s actually what worries me about Mayo.

He will likely be a great HC someday, but the odds of it happening his first time with so little experience are low.

Agreed that he’s no longer a top tier coach but in regards to the falcons they hired a worse defensive coach. They passed on Bill Vrabel and Slowik after the season he has with a young rookie qb.

But like… who else wants McDaniels? Is he really considered a hot OC candidate..? I haven’t heard any team looking to interview him

This likely means Belichick and Vrabel do not get a job this cycle and will sit out at least a year.

I'm not surprised. I don't see him gettin another HC job now or in the future.

In my mind the ideal scenario is Vrabel not getting a job and comes back to the Pats for his gap year and is the DC/assistant HC and mentors Mayo. In my mind a McDaniel/Vrabel combo as your coordinators would give you a MONSTER head start on this year. That combo would allow Mayo do what he does best, which is LEAD the operation

The bit of good news for the Patriots is any concern that Belichick would have his team bid for Dugger this year and Peppers or Barmore next year.

Anyone who thinks Belichick is no longer a good coach has absolutely no idea about football.
