I think the idea that if Drake doesn’t look good, he could be pulled, is pretty wild. They are already playing the “bad” option, the floor is already set. I think it’s insanely unlikely that Drake ever approaches a level of performance so bad that anyone would want to go back to what Brissett was giving them. He will make mistakes but he will at least make a “wow” throw or run every so often.
I am nearly certain he’ll throw way more picks. I’m fine with it because Manning holds the record for picks thrown in a season and he turned out pretty good.

Picks mean he takes a chance and learns what to do/not to do in the NFL.

At least it’s productive and building TOWARD something which just wasn’t happening with Jacoby.

What I want to see is he tough and durable, and can he hit a few plays/game that make you go “holy **** what a throw”.

So, Ja'Lynn Polk and Jabrill Peppers hastened the public announcement that Drake Maye has supplanted Jacoby Brissett. On a Tuesday, while the players have a day off. With one of the league's best pass defenses coming to town vs. the league's worst OL and receiver combo. Was this the plan? Or is it purely reactionary?

You can't convince me Maye would be starting Sunday if Polk's heel landed inbounds and Peppers had a ginger ale after tucking his girlfriend into bed.
Whatever the reason they have finally made the right decision.

Has there been news on strange that I missed? Is he expected to return soon?
Nothing new since What Mayo said last week.

I think this week is probably still too soon. The only reason I said anything is that Leverett was the weak spot last week and Strange has some potential to be able to play center. Tough ask coming off injury though.

I was shocked to hear this on the way home... Not surprised... Pressure is mounting at one Patriot place to show something, anything positive

One step closer to Joe Milton. The plan is going swimmingly.
This is where I don my Carolina Blue and go all in on the naysayers. And so the Dynasty begins.....

We will find out. Regardless, the reasoning and process matter. This "organization" is looking like a seat-of-the-pants knee-jerk amateur clown show.

I’d rather he throws a pick and learns from it than pass up a shot he thinks he has to check down.

In hindsight part of what ruined Mac Jones was the success he had by refusing to throw the ball down the field as a rookie. Once he was figured out, and that was defended his whole mental approach was messed up. Then it got inside his head and he started throwing the ball down the field when he shouldn’t.

I always said the success of the 2001 patriots was grounded in how the 2000 patriots played. Belichick came in and established what he wanted to be whether the players got it or not and proceeded to find out if they did. He could have won a lot more games in 2000 if he just let Bledsoe throw the ball all over the field and played Carrol’s scheme that the defense fit better.
But he had a blueprint if what he wanted to become.

That’s what we should be doing with maye. Run the offense that he will be best in when he grows into it, and correct the mistakes as they happen

It is but I am happy to see them basically admit they were wrong, because when next off season comes the better be ready to accept their approach to this one was ****ed

And if we get a true #1 with the draft haul we get in 2025…we won’t need Higgins.
So many other teams find good productive WRs all over the draft.

It's ridiculous that NE can't find one.

13-4 and onto the playoffs, baby!

Great highlight clip. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a right handed Qb out that much zip on throws while moving to his left.

I’m not as down on Mayo as some. It’s early and there are definitely growing pains.

Having said that, I bet he is learning real fast that leading pros who are millionaires and adults is much, much more than ra-ra & being cool.

Pats are wearing the Pat Patriot uniforms this Sunday in favor of the blueberry pajamas. I'm going to Jean Claude it again today....

If the line from last weekend shows up Sunday, Maye should be fine. I would guess it will be a lot of running with some shot plays.

Or they lineup 5 wide and let him sling it.

What viper said. Even if the lines mediocre, he’s exponentially better than jalopy. Respect to him but he’s no bueno.
