Good thread. Lots of interesting comments.
I've already said above that I don't think this is the right move at this time, but "it is what it is" and we have to hope for the best...and I have to hope that I am wrong and others are right.

That said, the only sure winner in this is Mayo. The mediots were turning their attention from Jacoby to him and saying he was one and done as HC of the NEP...but, now, Mayo's given them what they wanted and bought himself at least another season. If he is part of the problem and not part of the solution (which is what I have posted here since his appointment was announced), then this is just prolonging the agony of the post TB12 era.

IF Maye is half as good as Stroud in his Rookie season Mayo and Wolf already won.

Yes!!! Drake oozes confidence. I like that about him when I saw him going through pre draft meetings with dabol.

The first game of the season was a total confidence builder when we thought we had beaten a team better than us. But a month later, we now find that the Bengals have the same record as the Patriots at 1 and 4 and that they suck too. That confidence began to weaken after game two and the close loss to Seattle when Jacoby passed for a whopping 125 Yards. The third, fourth, and fifth games were continuations of Game 2 on Offense to where even an old die hard Pats fan like me found the Patriot offense almost unwatchable.

For some, the fans should take a back seat to playing the "Long Game" because of the risk of Maye getting hurt yada, yada, yada. Come on Man!!!!!!!!!!!

Who really pays the bills for the NFL? I don't care if it's the cost of tickets, concessions, player salaries and owner profit. And please don't say that TV Revenue pays for most everything because the cost for TV advertising is passed on to the cost of goods which in turn is paid for by the consumer (fans and non-fans ).

If I was still a season ticket holder and paid the kind of money they get for season tickets now as well as parking and concessions today for the product that has been put on the field especially for the past 2 or 3 years, I would be livid.

So screw the "Long Game". There's no guarantee that it would work anyway. I would want to see the best product available today. . . Right now that best product would be Maye until proven wrong.

The OTs were also misjudged, obviously.
OT's
We signed Okorafor, Onwenu and drafted Wallace. We kept Lowe.

Okorafor was clearly misjudged very badly.

Was Onwenu misjudged?

Yes, Wallace misjudged if anyone thought that he would be a major contributor in 2024. Also, he was misjudged if they think that he is an LT.

Was Lowe misjudged? Perhaps, if the team is supposed to judge injuries.
======
I suppose that we misjudged Anderson. But we judged to cut him and claim Jacobs and Thomas.

Saying play Maye in week 6 is reasonable, saying play Maye in week one was silly.

I'm thankful they did the right thing not putting him out there to run that gauntlet versus the Jests and 49ers... that would have been dumb.

The Plays Brissett can't make even our Corners know that.

That was a Burrow - Allen or Mahomes throw right there. That's how you open up your Offense and not limit it with mediocrity.

Why just the tackles?

Every free agent offensive linemen and the two kids they drafted have looked inadequate.

Wolf needs to reevaluate how he evaluates offensive linemen. He brought garbage in...
I suppose you are complaining about Jordan, Robinson, and Leverett.

Jordan played at least as well as the other OL's. He will probably start this week over Sow, again. I will note that Sow played against MIA.

Robinson was drafted as a backup RG. We also need a starter for early in the year if the team was to have the option of Onwenu at OT for at least part of the year. I think that he has been OK in that role. He has to learn how to pass-block. He is an excellent run-blocker. He is our developmental #4 rookie OG. The team made a judgement that we needed to replace Mafi. Robinson was an OK choice.

And then there is Leverett. He was brought in the backup LG to Sow, and as a 3rd emergency OC behind Andrews and Andrews. Presumably, he would be gone when Strange came back. IMO, for a 3rd string center, he has done very well. OBVIOUSLY, we need better after the two injuries. And yes, the team could trade a draft choice for a center. In the meantime, we are testing several. A decision will need to be made. However, I see no reason to fault Wolf because Andrews and Andrews were both injured.
=========
BTW, this is bottom the roster managing. The REAL issue remains at OT. The team has a starting and at least 2-3 potential backup centers for 2025 plus a probable free agent signing and possible draftee. We have many at least 3 starting quality OG's, needing two.

AS AN ASIDE
Was it really that terrible to bring in Jacobs and Thomas to replace Anderson and Okorafor? IMO, the REAL problem was the drafting of Wallace, who has not been able to be even a backup at RT or LT.

This is a lot of talking...

The Pats have allowed the second most sacks in the NFL despite the 22nd fewest pass attempts. This gives them the 30th worst sack percentage in the NFL.

They also couldn't run the ball against the Jets and 49ers, the only two good run defenses they faced... so they can't run block particularly well either.

In short... the line sucks really bad.

You're trying to shine a turd into a diamond, or pee on my head and tell me it's raining... not sure which.

I gotta know, how is it both Stefanski and the Browns GM survived signing Watson, even getting new deals in June 24 lol, yet AvP sucks greasy pork balls with chocolate sauce was sacked as OC soon after, was he the instigator to bring Watson in. AvP sucks greasy pork balls with chocolate sauce even became QB coach as well as OC when there. I'm £hitting a brick. It does worry me how much say this guy had on bringing in Maye.
Please, I really hope I get to each chocolate sauce too and Maye is the next superstar.

edit - I dunno.. does he AvP get a pass because Brissett was already bad. He didn't exactly elevate him or the offence.

Did you read what I said? Attendance is required for parking and concession revenue which is up to half of the total stadium gross.
I did but the second part must’ve not sunk in. LOL! My Bad.
