Sam Darnold to Panthers

Hmm, maybe Darnit is fixable?

I doubt Panthers will pick another QB in 1st round.

Most likely they will trade out to get more picks to shore up many positions.

So, you think that they are set with Darnold, who has shown that he is NOT a top quarterback.?

They want to trade Bridgewater. I would suggest that they might draft a QB. Of course, if their man isn't there, they can wait until their second pick, after trading down as you indicate.

I’m with you in being skeptic that the Panthers are all-in on Darnold. He still hasn’t shown enough to earn that trust. They see the upside in that they may have something fixable with him for the next two seasons. But I wouldn’t put it past them to hedge their bets with a kid like Lance if he’s there at 8. This allows the Panthers to redshirt Lance in 2021, and if he shows that he can be ready to start next year, and Darnold looks good in 2021, the Panthers can trade Darnold for more than what they traded for him, and have their QB of the future ready to step in.

Not sure. At least Tanny had some success in MIA which didn't make his performance in TN all that surprising.

I knew someone would bring up Tannehill, which I think reinforces the idea that quarterbacks really don't get that much better elsewhere. We're talking about the best case scenario of the last decade, out of all the quarterbacks that got traded into what looked like a better system.

But even with that best case scenario in Tannehill, there's still some brake pumping. He's playing with an outlier running back who is by far the best in the league and arguably the only one capable of consistently setting up the passing game with dominant running. Tannehill is still throwing for less than 250 ypg. The team ranked 30th in passing percentage ratio, and the two teams below them (Baltimore, New England) have a by-design running QB element.

The Titans have been at a clear disadvantage when matched against the real elite QB led competition. And as you alluded to, he was already an average (perhaps slightly above average) quarterback by most measures in Miami. I have little doubt if the Titans had signed Brady this offseason, they'd be champions right now.

Exactly. Tanny did not suddenly become Joe Montana in TN.

He has better #s because he has a better supporting cast and better coaching which make his job easier.

He is still the same slightly above-average QB in TN as he was in MIA
