Sam Bradford traded to Vikings

Is this actually the best deal the Vikings could get for a 1st and a 4th? Rivers, Glennon, Mallett just to name a few.

That list of QB's you just made confuses me immensely...

vikings just gave up on teddy B.

....i think bradford can match teddy's production ( 14 td's6 int's...2600 yards ).

First & fourth round pick for Bradford, lmao.

Jimmy G is worth a kings ransom in a month if he doesn't crap the bed.
And the Eagles avoid a $7 million bonus due in 3 days. They essentially get back what they gave up to move up to get Wentz ( a 1st and 3rd next year getting a 1st and 4th in this deal) in terms of future picks so to move up to pick him they swapped 1st rounders this year and gave up a 3rd and 4th.....

I agree with the above posters, the long term prognosis for Bridgewater's return must be fairly negative. And I'm sorry if that's the case; he looked like a dynamic young quarterback with a solid upside. Hope he can come back from this and play for a long time.

Even so, is Sam Bradford the answer? Don't think so, especially for the price they paid to get him. They must be celebrating in Philly! Got rid of a high priced guy that they didn't even want and got a haul for him.
Philly talk radio is excited. Bradford came off as a whiner complaining about competition and I think Daniels will do fine. The expectations aren't super high (as for an underperforming oft-injured #1 overall pick) and he knows Pederson's system cold.....

In other words, their hype is only outdone by their mediocrity?

The vikings paid the same thing for Bradford that the patriots paid for Ted wells.

Working on the principle that every player has a price, Minnesota could have gotten a serviceable QB for a lot less than what they gave up for a less than great Bradford, and in the case of Rivers a much better one for what I would think San Diego might consider giving him up for.

You're listening to WIP too?

They aren't giving up Rivers. And comparing Rivers to Glennon/Mallet is complete apples and oranges. They aren't in the same universe as each other.

Very interesting deal. I agree with those who acknowledge that Minnesota's window is NOW. They had to do something and while they paid a lot in draft picks, he doesn't cost much in cash or cap space, (I read one place it's around $7MM). Bradford for all his faults is a QB who has put ups some solid numbers in this league. And real QB talent in this league is so scarce, the price for even moderately successful guys is going to be high. If Jimmy's 4 starts are just perceived to be decent and he improves with each game, then a first round pick is going to just be the start of the bidding.

Sadly it also indicates that Bridgewater's injuries might take more than a full season to recover. I guess they have a pretty good team over there and AP's window is closing fast. They needed to take action and they did. If I were a Vikings fan, I'd be please with my FO for doing something when something needed to be done. Granted the price was high, but those fans are buying tickets NOW.

It also exposes something that has occurred to me this off season. And that is the over hyped value of a #1 pick. Didn't we just have a VERY effective, if unspectacular draft this off season without a #1 pick. Isn't the presence of THREE top ten first round picks on our roster show just how capricious even #1 picks are. And think about this. The Pats already had a roster full of young talent. We certainly aren't in the rebuilding process, and yet we will DEFINITELY have 2 rookie UDFA's and possibly 3, make this roster. So if you draft well, how critical IS that #1, especially if you are picking it in the mid 20's or lower.

Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE me those #1 picks, but critical are they REALLY, when more than half crap out after 4 seasons.

Remember all that when Sam Bradford gets a season-ending injury getting off the plane in Minnesota.

Wow! That's expensive for him. Don't know if I see the logic in this move. Are the Vikings that good that they'll be in the Super Bowl mix? Maybe they are; I honestly don't know.
Their D should be awesome. But first round for Sam. ouch. Maybe third.

....and you are the winner of the daily Michael Felger HYPERBOLE award.

We'd need a desperate team, it's all in the timing. I would have traded JG for this deal, TBH, even given the situation.

No, we need the wins to get HFA. If we were a middle of the pack team, i would agree.

They aren't giving up Rivers. And comparing Rivers to Glennon/Mallet is complete apples and oranges. They aren't in the same universe as each other.

Which is why there is a different value placed on them. Yes, Rivers is a much better player, I said that. In my mind if SD could get a 1st and 4th for him at this stage of his career take the picks.

Glennon and Mallett are serviceable, I also stated that. They could likely be had for much less than a 1st and 4th, and likely get the same results Bradford will bring.

This is why BB takes QBs in the draft, and high. It is the bane of a lot of folks, but it eliminates the desperation that we see from MIN.

Some erstwhile fans gloat about all the draft picks they can accrue until they have to find a QB for the Pats, too. They will complain about the 4th backup OT, but think nothing of having sheeet for a backup QB. QB is the one position where you want the best depth, and should be happy to pay for it, even if never used.

Screw the draft picks, BB has shown doesn't need them.

So basically the Eagles traded Bradford for the equivalent of the Deflatgate penalties.

Jesus face palm

Why not go to the Browns and take McCown!?

Wouldn't they have bitten for a 3rd and conditional 4th. Then use your 1st on a QB next year.
