Swearinger has lots to say about the #patriots. #WEEIcombine

DJ Swearinger, #SouthCarolina; "I have played strong, free and nickel but I am a ball hawk. Plain and simple."

Love it!

Oh my, dont tease me!

What would your solution be? The Dennard situation sucks. I personally don't trust Talib to keep his nose clean if he gets a guaranteed contract. I put no faith in Ras I Dowling being able to stay healthy for an entire season. Right now the only given I have in the secondary is McCourty at safety. In the draft and FA we are potentially looking at needing 2 starting corners and a starting safety. If we can't say with confidence that Wilson can be slotted in as the starter next to McCourty, I'm sorry, I don't see how anyone can consider him a worthwhile pick in the 2nd round
Sorry, but I disagree with your analysis of what the Pats need. They don't need a starting Safety. They have two in McCourty and Gregory.

Currently, the Pats have McCourty, Wilson, Gregory, and Ebner at Safety. Ebner being an emergency player at best. For you to say that a 2nd round pick isn't worthwhile if he's not starting by the start of his 2nd year is just absurd. Especially with the complexity of the Pats defense.

Corner is the issue. Dennard shouldn't see any major jail time being a 1st time offender, but who knows with the judge there. For all we know, he may get 5 years probation and 2000 hours of community service. But the Pats will know what they need to do on April 11th, before the draft.

I expect the Pats to bring in another starting Corner to be opposite Dennard and then add someone in the draft and another jag or two as well to go into training camp with.

However, if the Pats move McCourty BACK to CB, then, yes, safety becomes a concern..

Gregory isn't a starting-caliber safety.

I'm hoping Vaccaro slides down to 29. He's a day one starter and prevents us from having to overpay Reed.

I can't envision any scenario where that happens. I would love it but I don't think there's any shot of that happening.

tbh im almost dont see us going safety in the first couple rounds maybe someone like cooper taylor in the 7th that has ST possibilities but i think the team likes wilson and mccourty and then we will have gregory and maybe ebner can contribute a little more more experience will go a long way for wilson and mccourty along with ebner maybe a small FA signing but thats it

It's amazing how far Lester and McDonald have fallen. Last year, they were surefire late 1st early 2nd picks. Now, they'll be lucky to be taken by the 3rd round. Bacarri Rambo is another one who has slid down... I wasn't impressed with him in the Georgia/Alabama game. Lester didn't impress me either..
This draft will be real interesting because there will be 1st round value safeties that have either had bad years or like Rambo faced suspensions. Players like McDonald could factor into the Pats making some trades. If they can't get who they want in the 1st round, teams like Kansas City could be very interested in trading for it. I still think the real issue is cornerbacks and need to find out if Dennard can play and whether or not Dowling was a wasted high second round pick.

Whilst I'm not a great fan of taking a safety early, I've just noticed that Eric Reid had the joint fastest 10 yard split of any DB at the combine (1.47). Why aren't we talking about Reid more as a prospect? He actually put up some pretty darn good numbers at the combine.

He's not as good, but plays similarly to Mark Barron. He's good to very good in run support, plays well as the last line of defense and reads the game well in zone coverage. Also has really good size for the position.

I'm not saying we should draft him, but I'm a little surprised he hasn't been talked about more, especially by those looking for that more physical safety.

Sorry, but neither Rambo nor McDonald are 1st round safeties.. Also, KC trading their 2nd round pick this year and possibly next year for Alex Smith. So the likelihood of them trading up is zilch..

After watching many clips, I still feel the most comfortable with Rambo. Rambo relieves those fears of those 40 plus yard bombs being completed on us. Then I would have to go with Reid after that. He is big and can deliver some brutal shots.

At first I want to love matt elam, but he reminds me too much of Chung. Besides he is 5-9 and i can't see him stoping someone as big as gronk. Reid on Gronk seems like it could work. I honestly don't like vacarro or swearinger, but i am really warming up to cyprien. So for us in this order: Rambo, Reid, Cyprien.
