Welcome to the Religious Forum.
The purpose of this forum is to share, discuss, and debate religious news and ideas.

The forum is best when it has a variety of points of view expressed with respect, humor, and intelligence. We want to encourage people to participate in our threads and not push them out by diminishing them or their posts.

In addition to the following rules, any rules of Patsfans.Com are also applicable. The following rules were developed by forum participants as way to make the forum appropriate to all members of this website. If you believe a rule should be modified or eliminated, feel free to initiate a discussion about the rule.

RULES

1. No threats: The quickest path to being suspended or even expelled from the website is to threaten someone. There are no exceptions to this rule.

2. No personal attacks: You cannot call someone who participates in this forum an idiot, a terrorist, a Nazi, and so on. Do not provoke someone by baiting, teasing, insulting, harassing, stalking, posting offensive images, linking to insulting videos, and so on.

3. No stereotyping: No attacks that stereotype all people of a race, ethnicity, religion, gender (no mysogyny), national origin, sexual orientation, or who are serving in the US military: For example, if Widgets were a race, it would be against the rules to call all Widgets ugly, selfish, or cheap.

4. No swearing: No four-letter words or the equivalent.

5. No trolling. Do not make posts that are intended to offend, insult, or belittle. Posts that have "NT" before the title will be monitored more strictly for trolling, but such threads should not be trolling in themselves or the "NT" tag will be removed.

6. No posting of inappropriate content: Spam, porn, images designed to offend a Patsfan member or group, personal information (such as a member's phone number), and other content that is deemed by the moderators as offensive is not allowed. Moderators reserve the right to remove photos that may be deemed offensive to members or visitors.

7. No hijacking: Posts must relate to the original subject of the thread. When we determine if a post is hijacking, we will look for two things: Does the post in question have anything to do with the first post in the thread? Has the post in question initiated a conversation that rightly belongs in its own thread?

8. No duplicate threads: Before initiating a new thread, check to see if someone has already posted on the subject. If you are starting a new thread that is similar to one less than two weeks old, make it clear why your thread is different or it will be merged.

9. Thread limit: You may post up to three threads per day. If you initiate more than three, the additional ones will be deleted.

10. Quoting: When quoting, you may only copy up to four sentences from the source, and you must include a working URL or the source of the quotes: In other words, help patsfans.com avoid copyright infringement. Note that you can quote more than four lines of material that is in the public domain, is not copyrighted, or is copyrighted and states that it may be used without permission. Examples include press releases and the US Constitution.

11. Ian's rule: Complaining about moderating or moderators publicly will result in a 5-day suspension with no exceptions. If you want to discuss a concern with us privately, then send us a polite PM or post a respectable note in this thread.

PENALTIES

The moderators have the right to issue warnings, infractions, delete posts, close threads, ban individuals from a thread, suspend individuals from the forum, and if necessary expel someone from the forum. Moderator's may also delete offensive content from individual posts, in which case that will be indicated with three asterisks (***). You can appeal a moderator's decision to the other moderators.

Threads and posts complaining about the warnings or infractions will be deleted, but people are free to post their complaints in this thread regarding any issues they may have with these rules and guidelines.
