If Vrabel is that MUCH better than Bill I can only assume sb1 thinks Vrabel will win 7 Superbowls or he doesn't think Maye is any good.

you said "Late Millennials and early Gen Z really had it good as they walked into title contention ever year post 2004."

in 2003 and 2004 the Pats weren't just in title contention, they won it all, so your post looks like you were saying the good luck for Pats fans began in 2005. So the joke there is that you looked like you didn't know the history of that run at the "what happened which year" level.
No. You are reading it wrong. After 2001, the jury was still out whether they were a fluke. They missed the playoffs in 2002. The Pats weren’t Super Bowl favorites in 2003, but they were in 2004. After they beat Philly making it 3 Super Bowl wins out 4 years - the dynasty Pats were created.

One poster in particular admitted she started watching the Pats after they had won 3 Super Bowls and were now considered the favorites every year after their last win in 2004. This was why she’d get defensive when posters would criticize the Pats because she didn’t understand the history of what posters were referring to. That poster was the former moderator in Ashley. She was a younger poster who walked into past and present success. All she knew was that the Pats were now the “evil empire” while the older fans witnessed it all coming together.

I miss Ashley. I liked her. This place has really gone down hill since she left.

Brady was a better QB in 2002 than 2001 but people don't acknowledge that because they fell short of the playoffs. Don't think they would have repeated anyway had they got in... the Raiders Titans and Bucs were on another level.

Year 3 of Bill's coaching. Led the league in TDs.

Still miss her pregame enthusiasm lol

The defense was pretty bad in 2002 which was one of the main reason they missed the playoffs. But the biggest reason why they missed the playoffs was because they faced a whopping 13 teams that had at least a .500 record which they went 6-7. In fact, nobody within their division had a losing record. That is a really tough schedule. Brady was still a young QB and had some off games at the mid season point against the Raiders and later in the season at the Titans on MNF and Jets at home on SNF as heavy favorites. That loss was for the division and they very well could've lost against Miami in week 17.

I miss her getting worked up and banning posters in the game day threads.

To further emphasize my point…

Around 2014-2016 Drew Brees and Sean Payton were at the height of their powers. Offensively they had a HOF QB, great offensive line, great weapons, they even had very good special teams. What they lacked was defense.

Drew Brees led the entire NFL in passing three years in a row, his Saints offense in those three years ranked 5th/6th/2nd in points scored per drive.

The Saints defense was ranked 31st/32nd/32nd in points allowed per drive those three years.

The Saints possessed 2 out of 3 phases necessary to win playoff games in the NFL, they were only missing one.

Those teams won 7 games in 2014, 2015 and 2016.... won 7 games three years in a row. They were sub 500 all three years.

Team matters more than the QB, a head coach can’t do it without players and quality assistant coaches. Team is most important, and QB’s are a part of team, not apart from team.

“More important” is some glue sniffing fanboy crap.

I can't believe no one has stated, "talk to me when they each have won 6 and then we'll only count them if one of them can win without the other."

I mean that's the Patsfans standard. Lets not start being hypocritical around here.

What happened to this hoc guy lol........

Yeah the defense was not good in 2002. 4 games with over 200 yards rushing allowed starting with Priest Holmes. It made Bill and Romeo switch to a 3-4 with Big Ted in the middle and the results were so much better.

I think Brady looked a little shook in Oakland they were really giving him a hard time about the tuck rule. The Titans game was a mess.

It's always the QB would you rather have Maye + league average coach or Vrabel + league average QB

Lets say Maye + Steichen/La Fleur or Vrabel/Purdy i think it's pretty obvious you want the first one of those.

I've noticed that with some posters as well. I see they are the latest post in a tread When I click on the thread, their post disappears. I don't have anyone on ignore, so I don't know why that happens. A trick I've tried is going back to the main page, then click on users on the thread you want, then click the users posts to see what they wrote before clicking into the thread.

Sucks having to use tricks maybe Ian should fix that

This thread is like something that Sam would start. How can you chose between a coach that was here Twenty years and won Six Super bowls and on thats been her 11 months?
Wrong "versus" thread. This is Vrabel versus Drake "Drake Maye" Maye.
