I don't care if he stays in BUF but I want him in the AFCE. So I voted "against firing".

Rex should be a DC. He hasn't adapted well to HC. Success in NY early has given way to mediocre (at best) play.

Go look at the Bills board. Half are back on the we can go 14-2 bandwagon. And now, they are saying that the Cards stink and are beatable. And the Pats are a joke and will easily be beatable.

Mental illness is a real, real thing.

W T F !!!

Plenty of people are speculating on whether Rex will get fired or not during this season. My question is whether we, as Pats fans, want Rex to stay or for him to be replaced by the Bills' front office.

On one hand, Rex plays us tough twice a year compared to the cakewalks we used to have against the Bills. Having him gone could ensure a return to easy picking with the Bills due to their management being garbage. Under Ryan, the Bills are mediocre but also have the chance to knock the Pats off a game each year.

On the other, what happens if the Bills finally wise up and hire a legit coach who can turn their organization around? Isn't it better to stick with Rex because it means the Bills don't have a chance to emerge as a playoff franchise?

Overall, as a Pats fan what would you prefer happens to Rex this season or right after it?

I don't think this current Buffalo ownership has a clue about hiring a good HC. They will probably look for the biggest name among the proven failures.

Aside from the 1st game emotional adrenalin rush that losing teams get after a HC is fired it's usually disarray as the next coach up is not really a HC and then has to fill his open position. Backfilling myself was always a problem when I was promoted as I did not have me working for me. Anyway, I don't fear Ryan. I hope he stays because total collapse gives the division rival talent pool a boost with top picks in every round. It's why I want the Jets & Bills stuck in 8-8 or 9-7 mediocrity forever. The added benefit is seeing their obnoxious fans' hopes finally dashed to oblivion as the pats yet again Lucy style pull away the playoff berth football.

The success was a long time ago and not exactly bellecjickian.
His first year was 7-7 with 2 teams sitting their starters letting him get to 9-7 and sneak into the playoffs. Year 2 was above year at 11-5.
Since then?
5+ years without a winning re it's or playoff berth and a w/l record of 34-48. Mediocrity is a complement.

Keep Rex in Buffalo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Concern is Patricia or Mcdaniels takes the head coach job.
But honestly if you want to excite the fan base with a hometown hero it could be Frank Reich.

It's always good to have a little comic relief.....ha ha ha ha

Every team Rex has become HC of has only gotten worse as time went on. As much as I hate to say it, the 2009 and 2010 Jets teams were built by Mangini. Rex is a really, really bad personnel evaluator and the variance of all his gambling with casino blitzes has swung the other way.

The only bigger train wreck than Rex is Pegula ...

This!

But I'm sorry to say that even Woody "he's-not-as-smart-as-he-looks" Johnson may have found a decent coach -- it can happen by accident. So no change, please.

As for Rex. If he had the smallest bit of manhood to go along with his f-bomb blustering, he would have walked out before he let his owner fire the OC from under him.

Keep him in the division, he guarantees two pats wins every year and a lot of laughs.

I'm pretty well aligned with your third paragraph. As long as Rex is around, the Bills won't be good. Therefore, I want him around as long as possible.
Unfortunately, once a Rex team starts to suck they go into a deep spiral of suckage, so I think it'll be very difficult for him to last out the season. The owners probably will have to make a change fairly soon.

Rex has played us pretty tough in the past, but it's starting to look like he may have exhausted his bag of tricks. It'll be interesting to see how they play us this year.
I remember how he pumped up his fan base for the game at BUF last year in week 2 but we kicked their ass. The final score was 40-32 but it was 37-13 going into the 4th and they scored 19 in what really was garbage time, it really wasn't close. The home game in week 11 was a lot closer at 20-13 but we were pretty banged up at that point in the season and the refs took away a sure TD by blowing the whistle early. Bottom line, the Jills usually don't roll over, but I don't think of them as one of the tougher opponents we face.

Concern is Patricia or Mcdaniels takes the head coach job.
Somehow I don't think the BUF fan base would be all that thrilled to have a Pats coordinator as HC, and I think those two guys would prefer to not be in the NFCE if they have a choice, but of course if push came to shove if the job is offered they'd take it, it's too much money to pass up.

Rex is a really, really bad personnel evaluator and the variance of all his gambling with casino blitzes has swung the other way.
He also sucks at getting his players to play with discipline, they always seem to pick up lots of penalties.

I vote for the firing of Rex simply so that I don't have to see and listen to the bubbling idiot on the local airwaves anymore.

I feel bad for Bills fans. They had the almost dynasty and have had to watch us have The Dynasty. They have had to travel to friggin Canada for home games. Rumors of your team leaving and Western NY has taken it hard last several decades economically.

For those reasons I am rooting for Rex to go. Certainly injuries are part of the issue this year and he has not had a good qb, but even with the excuses I don't think he is the coach to win with.

On the other hand if he stays I like it because the hilarity continues and the NFL next to only Pro Wrestling is all about selling the entertainment.

Rex is a great X's and O's guy in terms of designing game plans and probably one of the best Defensive coordinators in the league. He's also a naturally charismatic front-man with media. It strange, but as obnoxious as his buffoon-like antics and trash talking are against the Pats and other teams, I think there's something very likable about him.

Bottom line with Rex though, is that he doesn't have the mind or temperment to be an NFL head coach.

It's funny cause he loses.

No he isn't.
Look at the record and ignore the hype.

15 (taking over the exact same defense that was 4th the year before)

His last 2 jets teams set an all time NFL record for the fewest take ways ever by any team in a 2 year span. They had 28 combined in 2 years and Bowles took over and they had 30.
The bills set a franchise record for most sacks the year before he arrived and set a record for fewest his first year.

He is not a good defensive coach. He tells you he is and his father was so people buy into it.
"He creates exotic schemes" yup and they ultimately fail.

If you feel sorry for losers.

On that I agree.[/QUOTE]
