Rivers defends talk

i really care about rivers showing emotions on the field. he yapping with the fans and talking trash when he isnt even on the game is what looks -ve. who cares what he yells on the field to the ref ? its when he thinks he talks like he has won 5-6 rings which is bothersome.
eh polian doesn't seem to mind lol

anyway about your other question, i loved it when he told the sd fans to shut up

what kind of moron fan boos a team because the first drive is a 3 and out?

the booing portion of those fans was acting ******ed

people just have got their vagges hurt because they're seeing a qb who answers back fan smack talk

it's offended these drunks so badly lol

It isn't what Rivers is saying. It is the fact that he is constantly being caught mouthing off and acting immaturely.

Face it, this isn't the behavior that the public likes to see. It isn't the behavior people are used to seeing from a starting QB. He deserves all the backlash he is getting for acting the way he did.

The reaction isn't coming from the Pats, the Colts or any other team. No team tells the media what to talk about, but when your QB acts that way, Rivers encourages the storm that comes with it. I wish he would just stop and give his team a break. His team shouldn't have to answer questions about his immaturity, but that is where he puts them.

Way to be leader!

I really, really am tempted to photoshop his face into a gay sex scene photo but I'm too mature and I really don't feel like looking at gay porn tonight.

Rivers is the biggest idiot in football. What is it about SD QBs? He'd be fine if he'd just shutup and play.

Just blacken out a few teeth. Let's see how that looks.

A qb who talks back is 1 part of the story. A qb who is playing bad and has done nothing talking back is the important part. You think people make a bigger deal of this if manning or favre jostled with the fans ? Earn your respect then display those emotions. He isnt a great QB yet.
polian isnt the gold standard here. he has to speak the company line because his team lost ! you think the colts fan would like polian to complain abt rivers or talk rivers down when he beat their team ? When he says something like

"By the way, as we talked about before, pundits said, ‘Oh, yeah. Philip Rivers isn’t good enough. He’s not good enough.’ The world found out he is good enough."
it means he doesnt want people to think they got beat by some other QB.
Basically he is saying colts lost because they went against the next coming of john elway. 2 yrs ago he blamed his own offensive line for losing to the steelers.his words mean nothing .

I still relish the irony of Rivers calling Ellis Hobbs the "sorriest cornerback in the league" barely minutes after Reche Caldwell (Reche Caldwell!) beat Quentin Jammer for the big play that doomed the Chargers.

Anyway, if Rivers wants to act like an immature brat, that's his problem.

Maturity has always been a concern in regards to Rivers. Still acting like you did when you were 5 years old, Philip? I would say the concerns were well-founded.

Rivers just needs to get the crap kicked out of him. He has serious issues.

I read part of an article about him where they asked him about being compared to Ryan Leaf and he said "I'm not going to say anything bad about Ryan but what authority do these people think they have to make these comparisons?" (or something very similar)

He's such a moron he doesn't get it.

You don't need any "authority" to make any opinions. opinions are opinions, people can think what they want.

He has serious problems.
And for the longest time i didn't think it was possible for me to hate a QB more than Manning. Well that didn't take long.

Seeing how Rivers' loves to interact and feed off opposing fans, it would be a freakin' riot if none of the fans even gave him a simple 'boo' and didn't even react to him on the sidelines. I'd be willing to bet that he still couldn't keep his mouth shut. He'd eventually have to start in with someone. He'd probably start jawing with Anna Grant during the coin-toss.

This is not gulf. It's only because of LT's "classy" comments is because ESPN is looking to call the Chargers hypocrits. Also, Rivers always has a camera on him and Dierdork is the FIRST to point out his classlessness. I hate that guy

Hey, Dojo, isn't it a FACT that the Chargers WERE being hypocritical calling the Pats Classless because they merely mimicked the taunting action that Merriman used ALL YEAR to demean other players. AND they did it AFTER the game was over. They had done their "talking" on the field, as good teams do, and THEN let off some steam.

Clearly the Chargers are a team of immature babies who follow the Mantra of "do as I say, NOT what I DO"! Now a year later it is clear that the Chargers are STILL the same immature team, led by a crybaby RB (and while I admit LT is the BEST RB in the league, he's still a whiney little crybaby) and an Ahole of a QB.

So while the Chargers are STILL the most individually talented team in the league, they will NEVER win a superbowl UNTIL they grow up and start being a TEAM. That is, they have to become GREATER than the sum of their individal talent.

I see no problem with a QB that is mouthing off to opposing players on the field after he just made a play or won the game but mouthing off to fans?

C'mon, grow up and realize that you are suppose to be a professional quarterback and fans are suppose to heckle the crap out of the opposing teams players. (Fans are not expected to act in a professional or even mature manner, especially when ber is involved.)

Speaking of heckling, if this hasn't been thought of yet (I haven't bwwn on this board much lately) can we get people that are going to the game start a chant of "PHIIILLIIIIIIP, PHIIILIIIIP!" Like the Red Sox fans did with Roger? Of course this should happen after he makes a bad play or is sacked or something like that.

That is a GREAT IDEA!! Hell, we should chant it all game long and ESPECIALLY when he screws up!

The bottom line for me is this:

If I saw my NFL quarterback son acting like Rivers, I'd beat his ass for embarrassing me and his mother.

You know, pretty much the opposite of Archie Manning.

but when he says things like "ada baby", and "i'll be back" I don't consider it REAL smack. ESPN is taking this thing and riding it until it ends. They are going to try to give Rivers a bad name until nobody cares anymore. ESPN is like a soap opera. They always try to fabricate a persons personality, it's rediculous. Anybody who has ever played with Rivers swears that he is a born leader and anyone who has ever met him swears he's nothing but a gentleman. Are you REALLY going to tell me it's smack talk when Rivers walks to congratulate his LB for making a 4th down stop and Cutler was standing there jawing at Phillips and Rivers was the first to see it and he just continues saying "ada baby". Do you think it's smack when Rivers walks off of the Indy field with a bum knee and the fans are cheering by him saying "I'll be back"? Do you really think it's classless or do you just hate the classless saying so much that now you're using it on our QB? As a Charger fan, I love it. He defends his team and has lead us to wins on multiple occasions with his right arm so I wouldn't want anyone else back there.

Rivers is punk. ESPN has just recently been made aware of it. Its not their making. He's been this way since last year. He isn't very good and he'll be exposed this weekend.

No, he's been this way since FOREVER... and if you believe ESPN "has just recently been made aware of it," I have a bridge for sale.

Hopefully they will realize that LT and Merriman are also punks. But I doubt it.

hopefully they will realize that the patriots are cheaters too!....oh wait! never mind, they already do.

it is seriously too freaking funny that a patriots fan complains about anybody being "classless" or "punks".

you guys do realize that your coach is a slime ball that broke the rules in order to cheat the system, right? there's your "punk" right there!

oh and how about brady jawing to that player from pitts that guaranteed a victory after he scored a TD? wait...i know, brady has rings so he has earned the right to not be "professional" right?

personally i don't condone the trash talking but patriots fans are the last people that have anything to complain about.

your team isn't exactly considered to be a class act themselves, especially your coach who most the time refuses to say one word to the opposing teams coach after a win.

i am not saying anything that you guys don't already know, so why is it that rivers is the only one that gets heat for running smack or being "unprofessional"?

Some guys get more emotional then others. Some guys act out or act less mature then others. These men ARE professionals, yes. But they're professional atheltes. What Rivers does isn't that classy, but this is freakin football people, class has no place in it at the end of the day, when all is said and done.

your team isn't exactly considered to be a class act themselves:

Being a "Class act" is a claim a loser makes because he, or his team, need something to hang their hat on.

This is not gulf. You have to go out there and show some emotion. He hasn't spit in anyones face or called anyone any names or insulted anyone, just showed emotion. He did the same thing last year when he did the Hulk Hogan thing with the hand to the ear thing to the Denver crowd and when he was laughing at that doushe bag Warren Sapp and Sapp threw a temper tantrum. It's only because of LT's "classy" comments is because ESPN is looking to call the Chargers hypocrits. Speaking of Denver games...

"Bite me! Hey, Bite me!!!"

Class comments from classy Phillip Rivers on this year's game (a Monday night-er) at Denver, presumably aimed at Jay Cutler...

This guy is a turd, and I don't doubt for a minute if he finds himself on the wrong end of a pasting this Sunday we'll see a similar outburst.

Thye made some good points on Mike and Mike this morning about him. He may very well be a very nice man, a great husband and great father but nobody sees that. In the time that the rest of the country sees him, he is none of these things. He's a whiner and an ass. They all said it makes him incredibly hard to root for. And they're right. I root for a lot of players in this league that aren't Patriots.

The really funny part? The nation HATES us. Nobody wants us to win. Everybody was a Jag fan last week. This week? Everybody's a Pats fan. This team of "classy superstars" has actually made people root for what they've rooted agauinst all season! Why? Because their "competetive QB" acts worse than my teenagers - much worse.
