Wolf and Mayo are taking care of their own players.
That goes a long way to build a solid foundation as well as have other free agents feel good about coming here.

Rham has top 10 RB ability this contract is deserved.
Now go trade for Aiyuk Judon and a third sounds about right.
I think trading Judon would be a pretty big mistake. I think the Mondre contract is good, he is a hard working player but better yet he is not an off field headache. He has a great attitude and that is needed while trying to establish a culture.

NOT!

Let's sign Judon to a 4-year extension!

But the age, and the fact we need a playmaking wr.
Question is what’s the better move?
A second for Aiyuk?
Or a third and a aging pass rusher as great as a teammate he is for Aiyuk?

That’s more than likely the outcome and I won’t hate it but it’s not good business to sign players who more than likely will decline in skills to top deals.

I do hope we bring in another hard runner though so hes not overworked
That's one of the reasons why I wanted them to draft Braelon Allen out of Wisconsin. The Jets took him in the 4th round. He's listed at 6'1 235 and is fast for his size and has already decent hands.

Agree kid is a beast.

Love this deal. Stevenson is one of the few players on the roster that has the potential to be a star with a little more development and the right system. He’s also been a great culture guy, and he’s able to play on all three downs as needed.

As others have said, $9M APY would likely be maxed out. Guessing it has a backloaded final year.

If Maye is a success and they find some quality players at WR (whether those are guys who are here already or who are yet to be acquired) then we will be very happy we have Rham for the next 4 years too and won’t be sweating this deal at all

good for rahm... decent money, do want to see what the incentives are... maybe he can top 1000 yards again... which shouldn't be too hard with a 17 game schedule... only 59 yards per game...

I think it’s a deal where everyone will end up happy if he makes everything.

Kinda torn : on one hand, I was looking forward to cleaning house after a few poor seasons. On the other hand; the players they DID resign are the ones I’d have prioritized if returnees were a must.

Further, there is something to be said for starting fresh. There is also something to be said for showing loyalty and sending a msg to FAs of the future.

If we’re going to lose, why not just load up on UDFAs ? But then, on another note, maybe the returnees can be a base for the rebuild.

There are worse things than retaining Rham. I hope his production spikes.

Can't really clean house when the wr corp is such an unknown ... Gotta keep a few pieces in play, and Rahm is worth keeping, even if it's so you don't have another hole to fill

I thinks this is a good comp. Mondre is between top 5 and 10 in the league all around back. Money seems to be in line with his talent and production. Fair deal for both sides.
This is where I like what Bill would have done. Give him a bump this year if he was going to hold out and if he goes off this year franchise him on the discounted RB number or let him walk. Running backs are a dime a dozen and if Rhamondre is a B+ RB there isn't really much drop off to a C+ or B- guy for a fraction of the price.

Just said in another thread responding to being quoted, I'm not a huge fan of signing him yet. He needs to pick his game up. He barely had 1,000 yards on the ground in 2022 and was projected to have a big drop off even if he played all 17 games in 2023. He's also not had more than 5 rushing TD's in a season.

What's crazy is that 27 years ago 6 for $36M was too much for Curtis Martin, but 4 for $36M is fine now.

It looks like this puts him at #7 in the league in terms of per year at RB. Hopefully can hit that potential and be a Pro Bowl guy.

Yeah, great move. Let’s pay an already unproductive running back- a position where even the best (which Stevenson isn’t) fall off a cliff in their late 20s.

Good god, we are going to suck for a very long time. But hey, at least we’ll get more substantial answers to media questions in our coach’s post game conference! Exciting!

I agree. He's a high maintenance back where his convey of blockers has to execute or he's dead to rights. This was LaGarrette's problem when defenses focused on him in the playoffs as the formations/down and distance was too obvious. He had his woes being taken out of games early. He will be running behind a very mediocre at best OL with opposing defenses not worrying about the QB and the skill players in the passing game. He's going to see a lot of defenders roaming the box.

In an era where it's easy to find capable backs, this re-signing before the season was completely unnecessary. We will be revisiting this signing during the season.

9m per year would make Stevenson the 6th highest paid RB in the NFL. But that would still be half the money that Maccafrey makes.

I'm guessing a lot of incentives need to be reached to hit the full 36m. So I'm cautiously optimistic about this deal.

I just hope the money is still available when we finally need to pay an Elite WR1 or LT.

27 years ago the Patriots value was around 300 million, now it’s 6.4 billion.
