I disagree.

At the very least, he'd still be an All Pro Kick Returner.

And if Aaron Hernendez could thrive in our offense, I'm sure they would've found ways to use Patterson.

If all you got out of Patterson was a good kick returner, that is a failure as a first round pick.

If you ignore KR TDs i.e. a few plays, Patterson was a disappointment.

He made plays all season, in multiple phases of the game. Hardly a few plays. It doesn't help he was catching passes from Ponder and Cassel. His situation isn't even comparable to Jamie Collins who only became a full time starter out of necessity.

I guess if you want to look at it your way, sure, Patterson is a disappointment if you ignore his KR TDs. Doing the same for Collins, he becomes a bust.

And Patterson didn't? Tell me exactly who should have taken his place as #2 or #3 Wide Receiver? Besides Greg Jennings they had nobody of note. Jerome Simpson was probably #2 at the start of the season but I'm sure Patterson could beat him out later in the season.

kick returner? in today's era, meh.....i'll take collins & ryan over an "all pro returner"

hernandez was real world dumb......football smart

cordarelle does not run good routes, he does not spend enough time with film & playbook, his work ethic & dedication to learning the offense was a question out of college, and it took him 1/2 a season to learn enough to play any significant snaps.....his production was decent in that time, especially in the red zone....

dobson's numbers were better.....pats traded out, ended up with ryan & collins (plus) AND still ended up with dobson, who had an arguably better rookie season....

you'd be willing to trade ryan, collins, boyce and blounts production last year for cordarrelle?

and i stand by my statement that i believe he was not a good fit......veteran WR's have struggled with this offense......let alone a kid who had questionable football IQ and questionable work ethic coming out

for what it is worth, patterson's wonderlic was an 11......hernandez only scored a 17, but this profile was interesting: http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424127887324436104578581772197037576

I voted the Patriots only because Logan Ryan picked off Peyton Manning. That's an immediate accomplishment in my book.

as a WR, he didn't do much

his first 3 catch game was week 6.....more than 3 was week 11

first TD was week 9....3 TD's in the last 4 weeks showed promise for sure, but his production wasn't anything close to regular until week 11....and even then there were dud games....week 12 and on they started designing a run play or 3 for him, and his production was decent

dobsob on the other hand was far more productive early...TD in week 1, averaging 4+ catches a week through week 9 when he got dinged

patterson might be better long term, might not be.....but dobson was considerably better in the games he played, and grasped the offense much faster than i think patterson would have

long term who knows who was better, but considering where he was drafted, and all the hype, patterson showed dynamic flashes but underwhelmed overall

I think we will lead the league in both Logans and Brandons.

Most of pattersons's highlights are of him as a returner. Less effective as a WR. New England's offense would have been too complex for him to digest.

That is a severe case of politically in-correct, but still correct judgement. Blockheads can actually play in some Offenses, but not here, where you need to be literate enough to read and understand the Playbook.

The one year rental on Blount has an additional residual benefit: losing him in free agency means he will count in the calculation for 2015 compensatory pick, as a plus. Practically speaking, this is probably worth a 6th or 7th round selection.

I think the Pats got by far the better side of this deal. But it comes down to whether you value elite talent or overall 52-deep team depth. All I can say is the Pats are perennially in contention for the Super Bowl, even with Matt Cassell at QB. And the Vikes are still groping for mediocrity, even with Matt Cassell at QB.

Football is a team sport = trade down. Basketball is a star-driven sport = trade up.

I didn't make the comment about aside from a few plays, I simply pointed out the same applies to Patterson.

For those who thought we should have drafted Cordarelle Patterson...

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...sound-disappointed-with-cordarrelle-patterson

...which is why I never thought Patterson was even a consideration at that pick. He was the total opposite of a Patriots prospect.

In general, the 2013 WR class hasn't impressed so far. The 2014 WRs, though, look every bit as good as advertised. (Was sorry to see one of my draft favorites, Allen Robinson, go on IR after a fantastic start to the season.)

I'm amazed that we are talking about a guy who caught 45 passes and averaged 10.4 a catch as if he is the next Calvin Johnson.
The guy we drafted a round later had almost as many catches and more yards despite missing a large chunk of the season.

I get Patterson did a good job returning kicks but as a WR he was less effective than Dobson, who got ripped to shreds around here.

You think people here rip Dobson, imagine if we drafted Patterson? Guy is dumber than a bag of hammers. This board would tear him a new one.

If all you got out of Patterson was a good kick returner, that is a failure as a first round pick.
He has not even been that good of a kick returner this season, he has an average of 24.5 yards per return. He has been a disappointment as a player, he is very explosive but that does not appear to translate into big plays in the receiving game.

Jamie Collins has 61 tackles in 8 games, he played 2-3 of those games injured, project that out over a 16 game season and he would have 122 tackles. He is not starting out of necessity he is starting because he is a good LB right now, with a chance to become a great LB in the future.

"Man, why you got to hate?"

It was a good trade, but at this point due to the production/departure of the players involved , if I could travel back in time and make a choice I would stay Pat and draft Matt Elam.

A secondary of Browner - McCourty - Elam - Revis

And our starting linebackers in the base would be Hightower, Hightower and Hightower.
