Request: analysis of James Harrison impact versus Titans

What was his impact?

Brandon Bolden had as many rushing yards as Henry did.

Not saying that's all because of Harrison but he definitely helped in making Henry a non-factor.

Before Chuck Norris turns out the light he looks under the bed for Harrison.
Actually, Tedy Bruschi succeeded Chuck Norris in accomplishing impossible heroics daily, but Bruschi has been mentoring Harrison. Bruschi taught Harrison how to sneak under Norris's bed after he flipped off the light switch and before the room went dark.

You answered your first sentence with your third one

I think that was his point. On a side note I would not be surprised if Bolden went with Mcdaniels or Patricia
They'll pick up some of our FAs for sure

I'm following up on this because the most detailed discussion I've seen of Harrison's impact in the Titans game is in the Volin article 1/16/2018: Ben Volin: Patriots’ coordinators had a showcase game against Titans - The Boston Globe

Volin's analysis (I am using his exact words at times)
- mostly a run defender
- strongside linebacker versus weakside against Jets
- Notes the Henry tackle that has been mentioned here
- started rushing passer from end of Q2
- dropped into zone and was in Man on 3 snap (v. Henry and Stocker)
- Snap breakdown: pass rush 14, run 10, zone cov. 3, man cov. 3. 30 snaps on Sat. 57 in the two games versus 40 snaps for the Steelers all season.
- Holding penalty from TE Smith early in Q3
- No pressure when lined up against the left tackle Lewan but by lining up this way he allowed Trey Flowers and Wise to line up over the RT Dennis Kelly where they did well. So this was a good example of indirect effects of Harrison.

Note: this is amazing production for someone added that late in the season! What if any precedents are there for that by the Patriots? They add someone a week before the last game of the season, he contributes solidly in the next two games. Usually these guy maybe a game but they have trouble with the system. I think his impact is already bigger than Floyd's right?

Imo, mountains more of an impact than Floyd. A few months ago the Pats had Marsh at the edge and now Harrison. Marsh had some speed but got pushed around. Harrison moves groups of people. haha. Last game's 8 sack performance from the D was mind blowing. Was Harrison the final piece to the puzzle on Def which can now overload an O-line? I don't know but am sure excited about the next game. I'll take that miles over Floyd's two or three receptions and an atomic block to clear Edelman's way for a TD.
