Report: The Falcons gave their players a ton of painkillers

We tell one another "if you have a reason to pick up, don't use it" because that's all they are, excuses.

We also say "some are sicker than others" but still no reason to use.

Have you ever been to a meeting AJ? Because if you haven't, you're talking out your butt.

The program isn't about feelings or sympathy. And if that bothers you, it's ok.
I am not talking about "the program" you are. I'm talking about your attitude toward people.

You missed the fact I never called anyone a loser. I said we all enter Loserville. If you can't grasp that, that's your issue
You said anyone with a pain killer problem is living in loserville.
Same thing.

If you ask them, they'll agree.

Again, I'm speaking from an inside view of an addict, not looking at them from the outside

I think that's where we're having issues. I am not judging, I'm telling you where we end up.

Drugs aren't the only road to Loserville either. Ask anyone that has lost everything from gambling

That's exactly the point. NO THEY WONT.
Maybe you thought you were a loser but you are not everyone. This is the point I have been trying to make. You are lumping all humans who share a fault in as if they are the same person. They are not. They have different reasons, different feelings, different wants, different demons.

Of course you are judging you lumped every person with an issue together and banished them to loserville. There are some very incredible people who are anything but losers who for whatever reason take the wrong route for many different reasons. They are not losers. They do not live in loserville. They do not need douchebags like you to tell them they are losers they need help. Sometimes they need education sometimes they need support sometimes they need to get away from a bad situation.
I'm glad that people calling you a loser worked for you and you conquered your problem but that doesn't make everyone who ever had that a problem or endorse calling them a loser as the way to fix them.

I'll admit, I should have made it clear I was talking from inside the head of an addict

Since you haven't experienced my journey, I understand how you thought I was judging.

What actually got me going was a members casual comment "I'm in!" In regards to pain killers

I've told friends I refused a script for pain killers and had them say "you should have given them to me!"

That really upsets me because they have no idea unless they've been to that village I discussed. Addicts do really scummy things to get their fix and it takes years to shed that loser feeling.

No matter how nice people like you are, you can't help remove those feelings AJ

It's the price we're willing to pay before we reach out for help

You can't say we you can only say I
Every person who shares your issue is not you. That's the point.

I already said neither I nor anyone else calls them losers....ITS HOW WE ALL FEEL when we are finally ready to give up

What experience allows you to state otherwise? Or is it just your opinion?

If you know a sober friend, please ask them how they felt at the end of their drinking and then get back to me

The hundreds I know all felt like losers. Of course we weren't losers, but we felt like one

I'll catch you later AJ

I enjoy a little Naproxen when my shoulder tendonitis flares up. And sometimes an ice pack. #hardcore

we are surprisingly physical as well. We often get wrote off as finesse which isn't true. We are fast at every position but they love to get physical

Yeah, that was what I thought. The same thing happens with the Pats.

I've been blessed to see the Pats in their ninth SB and this might be the most likable opponent of all. One of our local radio stations put it pretty well when someone mentioned that this SB is between two diva-less teams.

After my back surgery on Dec 1 the doc supplied me with a ton of oxy. I guess I am lucky since it totally relieved my pain but I never felt any sort of super rush from taking it, even at first when I took 2 every 8 h. Just no pain, sleepy, constipated, and sometimes slightly nauseous. I was very glad to wean myself off them after a month. No appeal to me....

It's very difficult to get Adderal as well and that's fantastic. People abuse that stuff as if it's ok.

People have had ADD for centuries and it doesn't need to be treated with legal speed.

My back surgery in HS was the start of a really rough 4-5 years for me..luckily I dug out of that hole and seeing stories like this how they are given out like candy...makes my blood boil

yeah I don't really mind the pats in all honesty. I hated John elway and his ugly ass buck teeth. Still hate Denver lol

As much as I would like to see this get blown out of proportion and become a distraction to Atlanta, I just can't bring myself to hate them that much

Yeah as really it is about trying to have that of action. And not just words. As really of course, Falcons are denying this!

Was it OxyContin or oxycodone?

They aren't the same drugs. OxyContin is more addictive.

I think a big issue today especially with young people is what they call "self-medicating". I mean let's face it there are more young people today with crappy life's than ever before, parenting is at an all time low and our dodgeball-banning, participation trophy society makes young people blame everything they don't like on someone else.
Psychologists believe teens use drugs to escape the emotional pain in the same way you escaped your physical pain.
It leads to a pattern of everything isn't perfect for me, I don't deserve that, drugs make me feel better, so I take them. Sadly they start down a path where they either realize it's not who they want to be or they need to use more often, and then use stronger and stronger drugs. It is really an epidemic in this country. And everything we are doing is making it worse.

I took oxycodone, which has a mix of the opioid and tylenol. Oxycontin is just the straight opioid, the same chemical substance minus the tylenol, formulated for long & slow release (12 hr I think)

I had sort of a sense of well-being but not a high. Constipation was a literal pain in the backside. I hated it except for the pain relief. But you need pain relief after lower back surgery for sure.

The 2 or 3 times I've had to take pain killers since I got sober, they made me feel like crap.

I had an incredibly painful pinched nerve in my neck 10 years ago and was prescribed oxycodone. I couldn't sleep on it and when I did get into a light sleep, my dreams were like hilucinations.

So I dumped them and just dealt with the pain. I'm glad I never had a liking for opiates.

But I did use Xanax at the end of my drinking years...only so I could sleep after a night of cocaine....makes me sick thinking about it still

Chris Christy is a huge proponent of doing something about the epidemic you outlined

If I find the link, I'll post it.

And I agree with your assessessment of the "everyone gets a trophy" parenting results. But it's also a tougher world for them.

Here you go...pretty moving talk
