Including Trevor Lawrence. 1614699717285.png

Can't imagine we'd have enough for a monster trade and scouting these guys as potential opponents makes sense. But it's fun to think about the alternatives and what could happen. :)

Meyer would get run out of Jacksonville if he even considered trading the top pick.

Don't click no info ...
Someone (forget their name ?) is writing about someone else (Howe) reporting that we're (a team with no QB) scouting the top QB's in the draft?

I hope we are too.

Why not do the diligence?

Anything could happen and if Bill decides to include a 2022 Rd1 pick with whatever gets him in striking distance, it is possible he could get the 1 of the 4 top prospects.
  • 1st round. 15th overall.
  • 2nd round. 47th overall.
  • 3rd round (compensatory pick).
  • 4th round. 110th overall.
  • 4th round (compensatory pick).
  • 4th round (compensatory pick).
  • 5th round. 142nd overall.
  • 6th round. 171st overall (via Cowboys).
  • 6th round. 173rd overall.
  • 7th round. 205th overall.

This just in...

Imagine 31 teams are as well.

I always believed BB scouts college players for the draft and because the Pats will likely see some of these players on the other side of the field in a year or two, especially the top of the draft players. So if nothing else it’s the beginning reference point for these players and that make it into the NFL Whether it’s on the Pats or someone else. That said, if they like a QB, I’d love to see them move up and get that QB.

Supposedly, they're heavily scouting Lawrence as a point of reference. His workout was first, so when they check out the other QBs, they have a comparison for all the metrics they're evaluating.

This makes sense. Just for frame of reference. After Lawrence not sure any of them are worth trading up for. Any QB needs good coaching and a lot of work to get to a champion-caliber game manager.

A little off subject but aren't we switching 6th round picks with the Jets and getting the Cowboys 7th rounder instead of 6th. We may also get an extra 6th comp pick, not that it matters.
Another question is which players can we trade (like Gilmore but also someone like Mason or even Wynn/JC Jackson since we don't have the high picks to include in such a trade), along with draft picks, to get, say, the no. 1 pick. We can always sign UFA's to fill some of the spots lost but cap space gained in those situations.
It's not going to happen with the first pick but a move up that includes players could happen.

We've scouted prospects we couldn't possibly trade up to get literally every year. The idea is to have more info about them when you're either playing against them, or when they hit free agency/the trade block.
It's also in case they drop down the board like Ben did and Rodgers.

Wonder if Cam will be used as a point of reference

"How's the kid's bounce passes?"

Just for laughs I went on the PFT draft simulator and offered Jacksonville all of the Patriots 2021 and 2022 draft picks for the #1 pick.......

picks to trade:

  • Pick 15
  • Pick 46
  • Pick 96
  • Pick 120
  • Pick 139
  • Pick 145
  • Pick 159
  • Pick 197
  • Pick 199
  • Pick 241
  • 2022 NE 1st
  • 2022 NE 2nd
  • 2022 NE 3rd
  • 2022 NE 4th
  • 2022 NE 5th
  • 2022 NE 6th
  • 2022 NE 7th
  • Pick 1

And they turned it down.

Only QBs within the Patriots range are Trey Lance, Fields, and Mac Jones. They will obviously have to trade up for Lance or Fields. I kind of like Lance, he reminds me a lot of Josh Allen. Big arm, ability to scramble, etc., but tends to run when his first read isn't there.

Did the same on PFF simulator, and included all of 2023 as well and they turned it down.

“Pats are heavily scouting every qb’s on the face of the earth”

All this means is the Patriots have finished scouting wicked smart DB's they might take in the second round, so now they can look at the QB position.

Of course this could also be a counter bluff to the Niners bluff they are starting JG this year with BB bluffing he will trade up for a QB and isn't even the slightest interested in JG.

just doing their homework I imagine. Still think a veteran QB would be best
