Report: Josh McDaniels showing interest in Packers' opening
I hope he stays here until TB12 retires
Eh he will be fired in 3 years.
Still think Browns are the better fit.
"A handful of NFL assistant coaches have indicated interest in joining a McDaniels-led coaching staff in Green Bay, according to sources who spoke to Yahoo Sports on Sunday."
Browns are definitely a better fit. Young, talented QB willing to learn, or older talented but declining QB with a penchant for being a diva? Browns also have a lot of talent across the board, and I'm sure some more draft capital to work with. I believe this was said in the Packer thread, and I agree - the next Packers coach will be blamed for causing Rodger's demise.
Presumably those are assistants with ties to McDaniels
We agree to disagree. Of course I'll love for Josh to remain here until the Brady era comes to a end! Josh could do some deadly things with Rodgers and that offense! I'm not in the least bit surprised if he's indeed showing interest in this job!
I thought we had given me a boatload of money to avoid this situation?
This just says Kraft give me the world.
He will flirt interview and in the end Stay with his buddy Caserio.
However the NFC North has Patricia twice a year and his Brother Ben McDaniels is coaching on the Bears staff.
He could even bring his Brother to Green Bay
Eh, I'll believe it when I see it. There are two problems here:
1. Many of the reports out of GB are that AR switches the play on his head coach at the line and screws up getting into a rhythm for the game. How is McD going to live with that? They just got rid of a coach that doesn't "match up well" with King Aaron.
2. Most teams have to be a little gun shy of McD after the stunt he pulled last year with the Colts (which benefited us, of course).
I don't think McD is no. 1 on the list either way. And haven't we learned that the minute something like the McCarthy firing happens, the Hot Take Fake brigade is out in force?
Hahaha... Week 12 ..
I agree. What he did with the Colts could take him out of consideration for any future jobs. He'll be on the list, just may not be a top candidate.
Rodgers I'm sure has been lobbying for Josh he says he watches tapes of Tom has mentioned championships as the measuring stick for who's greatest between the 2.
This is a double edge sword if Josh leaves Brady retiring goes up 10 fold.
So do you stay in New England where you are tasked to find the heir appearant and wait out BB.
Or does Robert Josh and Bill sit down and have a conversation regarding this in season.
They shouldn't wait til the last minute if Kraft wants to make him the king of the Patriots.
Other option is BB retires and stays on as a confidant to Josh while he takes the reins.
So many moving parts I don't like the idea of losing a Innovator like Josh but would seek outside help to fill the void no way you can replace Josh with someone on our coaching bench.
You have to go after someone in say New Orleans on that coaching staff.
Plus, though awful for decades, the Cleveland Browns are just as traditional as any NFL franchise, Cleveland is a rabid sports town, and a Super Bowl title there will be as huge as anything.
McD shouldn't go to GB unless he has assurances that he can load up his Cutler boot for AR.
Rodgers grew up with the West Coast offense. I'd be shocked if they brought in another coach with a brand new system to learn.
I don’t think GB is a good fit for McDaniels, who would want full authority over personnel decisions. Mark Murphy is the guy in charge there.
no doubt about McD's next steps..
If McDaniels goes to Green Bay it's because Aaron gave him the green light and that's all it will take.
Aaron runs that team.
Sure it could be a match made in football heaven he was fawning about Aaron before and after the Green Bay game.
I'm sure it's mutual.
If Josh's family is happy going to Green Bay then he's gone unless Tom promises to stay longer or Josh gets more power or Belichick retires the end of this year or next.
What would be very interesting is if he knows he's the guy in New England and still takes Green Bay.
Since we are already paying him a lot he could get BB money or even higher to appease Aaron.
I'm not looking forward to the Patriots without Tom Bill and Josh I was at least hoping to have Josh down the road.
Well, it should certainly check all of the boxes from Josh's perspective.
1.) Great QB
2.) NFC team (away from Pats)
3.) Team with passionate fan base, strong history
They may agree to compromise or have the same player philosophy.
It's a sale the Packers would promise Josh anything to get him to sign once he does I'm sure the GM could go back on his word if push came to shove.
