This is Brady's 19th season. Manning played 18. Looking at the last 8 seasons Brady hasn't been in the top ten paid players in the league as far as cap hits go. Eli has been the top cap paid player three times in that same time span.

In those 8 years Brady has ranked a 11th - 38th as far as cap hit goes during those 8 years.

This year he's ranked 11th and making 15 million less than JG.

Yes he's left some on the table. Obviously not as much as suspected since he's earned nearly as much as P Manning. Brady is getting $22M this season and will earn $22M next season. Manning of course was the #1 pick and had a big leg up to start a career.

Look for Brady to recoup any losses with his next extension.

It is also another reason to keep him as he gets older as well. (plus that he is GOAT)

His age is less of an issue when you combine he is still winning and reaching Super Bowls and he is taking anywhere from 10-15 million less than other players, allowing Belichick to build deep teams.

In other words, it's not an organizational philosophy which will be terribly easy to duplicate - either by NE's rivals or by NE themselves when the time comes.

Don't forget that when we've had other quarterbacks under Belichick, we've usually won more games than we lose anyway, because of the Patriot Way. The mediocre Matt Cassell won 11 games here. That's not because he was the next Tom Brady.

The Patriot Way is attention to the little things, learning how to think the game, working your body into peak condition and prepare, prepare, prepare, and then for good measure prepare some more. It turned Brady from the pretty good, cerebral mid range pocket passer a la a smarter version of Kirk Cousins that he was in 2000, into the best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be.

I'm firmly convinced that Belichick refined the raw natural talent of precision, superb field vision and unparalleled mental toughness under pressure that Brady presented him with in 2001, and showed him how to turn that into a legendary skillset with constant physical and mental preparation. His handiwork on Garoppolo also shows pretty clearly what Belichick can do with the right quarterback.
