1. Brady went 14-1 when he came back. Jimmy was not doing that. And that directly resulted in a SB. You should also remember that Brady was the 2nd best QB after the MVP that year and people legitimately felt Brady would have been MVP without the suspension.I think JG if he stayed healthy would have gotten them to the playoffs and maybe a deep run if he went the distance that season. As for 11-5- compare that to what happened to the Colts when they had a subpar coach and they lost Manning.
2. You can’t compare the Colts situation. Cassel inherited a 16-0 team. The Colts QB inherited a 10-6 team. Cassel is still in the league as a viable back up and proved he could have a good year in KC. The Colts had a washed up old guy who was done and Painter who was the drizzling you know what. Both were quickly out of the league. So we started 6 games better and had a viable back up. Two advantages over the Colts. Plus the schedule difference which was in our favor. The Colts had a net loss of 8 games we had a net loss of 6. You had a 2 game difference there. They didn’t start even. So I would say some combo of a better QB, Belichick over Caldwell, the extremely weak schedule all contributed to the 2 game net advantage we had
