Also, the "shop for the groceries" line is weak. Kraft wanted Glenn, a lot of people in the room did, and Parcell's ego was set off. That's ridiculous to think ONE freaking draft pick somehow would cause such a divide, especially when the pick helps you to a SB!

Parcells couldn't handle that. That's sad and that's on him.

As much as Kraft should have stayed out of that kind of thing, it shouldn't hvae been enough to destroy what they had.

If Parcells stayed, $100 they're back in the Super Bowl the very next year. Even cheating Denver probably wouldn't have beaten them with their sneaky cap cheating that went pretty much unpunished.

Absolutely unreal what the general public, simply doesn't know.

Kraft should not have stayed out of that. He already knew that Parcells met with the Jets. He also knew that Parcells restructured prior to the draft, asking for only one more year.

It would be insane to allow a one-year coach (and a potential competitor) to make such a crucial pick. Glenn was not a great pick for the Patriots, but Parcells' boy Cedric Jones was an absolute bust. I think Parcells was looking at Regan Upshaw and Duane Clemons, who also did not do that well.

That draft had a lot of Pro Bowlers in the 1st round, 16 of them. 2 are already in the Hall of Fame, and players like Ray Lewis, Willie Anderson, Eric Moulds, Eddie George, may get there.

Another thing that struck me about this doc is how deferential BB is to Parcells. He is very gracious in his comments, and is careful not to attack him in any way--it is clear from stuff written last decade, like Haberstam's book, that Parcells' behavior bordered on Bobby Knight-lite by the time they got to the Jets, and that BB was frankly tired of dealing with it. I also think there's probably some truth to what Harry Carson said.

I agree. I also really liked the interviews with the old players like Carson and Taylor.

Seriously what is Bill Parcells beef really with Kraft?

I say there is still something unknown.

Think about it. If all it was was about shopping for groceries then that certainly could explain leaving and going to a rival. But after a few years BP was doing pretty well in NYJ and better than we were.

Then just to try and block Kraft from getting BB he resigns from doing what he loves that is some cold ****. If it was just a power dispute why carry it so long you prove Kraft wrong by winning not by quiting just to stop Kraft from getting someone good. There's some real spite in that move by BP toward Kraft.

Now I just want a 30 for 30 with Kraft and Parcells in a room.

Haven't watched it yet, but will do so tonight I hope.

But part of me is a bit annoyed at the timing of this. Why does it come out a few days before the Super Bowl? Ditto Brady's Tom vs. Time bit? I'd prefer they were after the Super Bowl.

Maybe Parcells just winds up hating all of his employers. He won't go into the Jets locker room. Wonder if he's on good terms with Jerruh.

Hate to say it, but you can never deny that the history of the New York Giants and the New England Patriots will always be intertwined.

I was thinking about that Parcells Kraft rift and my uninformed guess is it was something like this:

- Kraft achieving the dream of owning the team wanted to be part of the inner circle of what's going on, who's getting kept, who they like in the draft etc.

- But if he tried to find out anything about what's going on with his team Parcells told him to leave him alone he isn't a football guy.

I can see it going like that because Parcells is an arrogant a**hole and Kraft like anyone else would want to be more than a spectator.

Maybe it's my bias but Parcells came across like an a-hole.

He screwed the Giants on the way out by not letting them know he would retire.

Then he screwed NE while pulling the BS "consultant" card to avoid compensation.

Then he tried to screw BB by resigning. I think he fully intended to block BB from coaching while his own role in the "front office" would be another sham consultant job, while BB was stuck as HC in name only- being just the coordinator.

BB saw that it was a sham job and his friend was going to screw him so he quit. Then instead of being gracious and letting his long time assistant go he tried to screw Kraft out of picks (and succeeded).

There's really nothing he can say to erase his actions. He doesn't even apologize, it's just "circumstances maybe could be better." I think BB knows Parcells is an a-hole it's just that it's not worth dealing with his **** anymore. He doesn't seem to like him, but he's not worth hating now.

Again that all makes sense why he would leave but once your out from underneath it you carry so much contempt that 4 years later your willing to walk away from coaching to block Kraft from getting BB. Something just doesn't add up?

I don't think he had any intention of walking away from coaching. He'd already tried a sham HC job once, this was just the second attempt.

Nice of Belichick to allow Parcells to be on stage with him.

He proved that by coaching after he dumped the Jete also.

What a lot of people don't realize is that Belichick was on the Giants before Parcells and if there's a coaching tree involved it's the Ray Perkins tree. Tom Coughlin may also be a branch.

Come on, man. Let's at least try to be somewhat fair and objective. Regardless of the validity of your other points, leaving the Giants because of a heart condition for which he ended up having multiple procedures, including bypass surgery, isn't a deliberate screw job.

I think it's Bill Walton who turned into Bill Parcells.
...or PGA Pro Colin Montgomerie.

Funny Story: 1999 Ryder Cup in Brookline. During the 4-ball I harassed Monty all day (he was known for having rabbit ears) and called him "Tuna!!". Nice shank, Tuna!!. I was a drunk and obnoxious in my youth. He kept looking over at me. I was so in his head.

FWIW Kraft and Parcells are on good terms now. You can find articles from around Parcells' HoF induction of both wishing they did things a bit differently.

He was diagnosed with a heart problem and retired. Did you expect him to diagnose himself 5 months sooner?

Then he screwed NE while pulling the BS "consultant" card to avoid compensation.
Yeah but that was just a game, the got the comp.

That was crappy but I think B.B. would have been hc but parcels a meddling gm.

He deserved the picks.

He pretty much nodded his head when they asked if their was love between them and complemented and thanked him a lot.
I get why you don’t like Parcells but you are blind if you think that program showed B.B. doesn’t like him.

It's good that they didn't go into the Jets locker room. It would have been spun into another spying scandal, ignoring the fact that the Jets have no secrets worth stealing.

For those who missed it (like me) and refuse to give BSPN a click....here ya go.

*EDIT: Some commercials in here but you can fast forward of course.

I thought it was interesting Tuna was first to say he had zero interest in venturing into the NYJ locker room.

He might have been proactive in anticipation to BB having zero interest.
