REISS: Patriots Have had internal discussions about uniform tweak

The all blue home unis are pretty bad. The league-wide trend toward single color uniforms has been a major aesthetic mistake, we're going to look back on them like we did all those weird polyester baseball uniforms from the 70s.

The road unis are ok. They are kind of blocky looking and I don't like the white stripe in the pants.
The single-color uniforms remind me of pajamas. At least since the 1950s, the only single-color uniforms worn by college and pro teams were all white away uniforms. It's been in the last 10 or 15 years that single color, non-white uniforms have become common.

If you want complete historical accuracy, the Patriots should be in tons of mismatching uniforms as they were for the majority of the Revolution

And yes, I know about the blue uniforms being declared the official uniforms of the Continental Army... but you can declare anything. Doesn't mean they had the resources for everyone to get the new uniforms. The first time they had enough was around 1782. So, they only wore all blue for maybe a year.

Some units even wore red

For me, the shoulder stripes are an eyesore. They look like they are bringing back an awful, old school jersey that never should have been.... except it never was.... and it's supposed to be "new."

I prefer this shade of blue to the comic-book blue they have now, that’s for dam sure.
It's both clean and mean looking! The other one that I posted is nice too, but has more of a Captain America vibe to it. Either one is better than what we have now!

I think as long as we do not get powder blue a la chargers, my head won’t explode.

The solitary positive thing about the Patriots and over-the-shoulder stripes is their AFL heritage. On the current throwbacks they're okay.

Otherwise, they should never wear them, they shouldn't have anything to do with the post-merger, Super Bowl era as far as the Patriots are concerned.

The media is finally starting to acknowledge the uniforms:

"The Patriots are likely in their most unpopular era of uniforms, with the monochromatic home look they introduced after Tom Brady's exit resembles that of a cheaply made high school sports movie."
The Patriots have been in their most ugly era of uniforms the last thirty years, with the silly blue primary and the hideous, sad flying elvis introduced in 1993 resembling that of a cheaply made high school sports movie.
I will never get changing the uniforms. A uniform is part of the brand and that uniform was synonymous with winning and the greatest player of all time. There is a reason why the Cowboys, Steelers, and 49ers (outside of some monitor alterations) never overhauled their uniforms. They are part of their brand and us changing ours was such a weird thing to do from a marketing angle.
I will never get changing the uniforms, except insofar as sports team owners can be dullards. A uniform is part of the brand and that uniform was synonymous with New England, the community and a lot of winning despite local media's jihad to emphasize losses and lack of championships which the vast majority of cities and franchises experience in all sports, to a far greater degree than the Patriots. There is a reason why the Cowboys, Steelers, Colts, Raiders, Packers and Chiefs (outside of some minor alterations) never overhauled their uniforms since the 70's. They are part of their brand and us changing ours was a suicidal thing to do. Marketing people are paid a tremendous amount of money to come up with ways to fix things that aren't broken, that is to ruin them.

Orthwein possessed zero personal connection or concern about New England or the Patriots. Kraft kept it less than a year later partly because he thinks it's financially more profitable (it isn't), but mostly to distance himself from Sullivan.

The 49ers had not one, but two consecutive 2-14 seasons including Walsh and Montana's first, yet they kept their iconic, unique logo and uniform in which, although they hadn't won titles, they had had very successful seasons and great players. Having their dynasty in them acknowledged their long time real fans and rich history and allowed them to experience the titles genuinely. And they looked fantastic and classy. None of this can be said about the Patriots.

There is a simple reason it's so easy today for people to dismiss the most impressive two decade run of success and greatness ever and agree with media's depiction of the Patriots as a silly, irrelevant franchise.

The uniforms are a joke. They are also sullied by the fact that they represent an era in which they can't do anything right.

Uniform Tweaks?!
Uniform Tweaks?!
You're talking about Uniform Tweaks?

OK. Maybe if the new uniform comes with an invisible force field around Drake Maye so he can get some NFL experience without getting his body wrecked by a very "offensive" offensive line.

How ‘bout we discuss/determine what new uniforms an improved offensive line should be wearing first?
I was bout to post the same thing. An internal discussion about a minor uniform tweak? they really know how to prioritize.....how about a discussion about fixing the o-line?

Exactly!

forums talking about uniform tweaks, broadcasters waxing philosophical about the glory days and the spendthrift owner...this is the current state of the New England Patriots....
