I thought this nugget from Brady on his WEEI appearance was really interesting:

The refs were calling it pretty tight yesterday. That crew has been known to call it tight. Coach Belichick told us before the game [that crew] called the most penalties in 2007, they had called the most penalties in 2008, and they were on pace for second this season. So we knew they were calling it tight.

The Patriots are not the first, and I'm sure not the only team to do research on the refs. I forget where I read it, but certain players know that certain refs will just not make certain calls.

I am OK with that as long as it is called consistently for both teams.

Yeah BB has always checked out what the particular crew tends to call and then coached accordingly.
