That was some very impressive route running, along with the speed and athleticism to make him pay after the setup. Love it.
Corey Davis got identical money (over an additional, third year), but I would argue has a more limited ceiling. Davis is a really good, predictable ‘X’, but he doesn’t have the athleticism or top-end speed to threaten a defense deep.
Agholar, on the other hand, has a higher ceiling, is more athletic, better speed, and can be a true deep threat. He’s also viable over the middle and from the slot as well. A lot more potential there for sure, and most likely a better fit for what the Pats need (so long as he can consistently and reliably catch the ball).
