Rapaport: Bennett Has Cracked Bone in Ankle, Offseason Surgery Required

What amazes me is that despite the importance BB wants to put on the TE position, his roster management at that position is . . . bizarre.
Hm? He's put a ton of stock in tight ends over the years.

I guess you're right...if your definition of "roster management" includes responsibility for running onto the field and preventing injuries...but I have no idea what else you could mean...he carried two of the best TE's in football...they both got hurt...that's certainly "bad luck," but how is it bad "roster management?"

It's Bill's fault that Hernandez offed those people, apparently.

This guy is going to be salty as f&ck if the Pats win tonight.

I can think of a few more people on here as well, let's hope they gel with everybody, I am hoping for more from them, lol...

Think it's time we draft oj howard.

People fail to realize it was the cover up not the crime. The Patriot way is to cover it up (except uhh Spygate forget about it). If they had convinced Hernandez to just admit it and apologize it would have just been a small fine.

Watch Lengel catch some key passes in the next game or two.

Yea hopefully he gets some targets today and gets loosened up, another reliable target wouldn't hurt if we are going to the Super Bowl

He brought in Clay Habor in the 0ff-season to be the #3 TE. Obviously it didn't work out.

But was the guy supposed to go get another #1 TE to be the #3 TE because maybe Gronk and Bennett could get hurt?

Just laughable to expect that.

And don't give me AJ Derby. If AJ Derby showed anything he wouldn't have gotten traded. Bennett injured his ankle week 5 Derby wasn't traded until after week 7. So Belichick absolutely knew about Bennett's ankle and still did't think enough of Derby to keep him.

So...Bennett has had this kind of a season on a peg leg? Damn...

As for the ganging up on @LightSkinSmurf; he's not obnoxious like some of the others rearing their heads this week.

Odd isn't it, that some of them waited until after the lackluster performance against Houston to come out? If we destroy the Steelers, I suspect they'll go away again.

True...or...

They could have just leaked a report that he was about to be traded to the Dolts or Jest and accomplished the same thing.

Patriots had him as questionable with a knee injury. Anyway there can be consequence for not listing the ankle?

Expecting Gronk to be available for 19 games would be laughable.
So if his only viable backup has an injured ankle and you trade the #3 guy in Derby...then either you are hoping and praying Gronk does the nearly unimaginable or you think Bennet will be without any further injury for the next 14 games.

No, it's because Kraft is cheap.

But seriously, I think this underlines the need to go with all 5 of our WRs (yes, Mr. Floyd for a big pass catching presence) tonight AND Lengel. Maybe sit Geneo Grissom or one more St'er, much as I hate to do that.

No Worries, We have that Beast Lengel at TE.

So if his only viable backup has an injured ankle and you trade the #3 guy in Derby...

#3 guy was the TE/former OT Williams, who was the first to get injured.

Derby and Harbor were not good enough to replace him at #3.

You can'take have enough quality depth at all critical positions to handle 3 guys going down. Devlin provides more at FB than any #3 TE available, apparently.

For an offense that relies a ton on TEs, Matt Lengel is the only healthy one at this point in the season. Wow. Just our luck. Start the season with 2 of the best TEs in the league in Gronk & Bennett, and both get hurt.
